Join us for a special evening of music and theatre to celebrate 30 years of The Glens Arts Centre!

We’ll be there commemorating the very first production ever did at the Gala - 'Welcome to Wonderland!'. This production was supported by The Glens through their Upstart! Residency and performed in 2016. You’ll be able to join us at a pop-up tea party installation where you can take your photo with the Mad-Hatter and drink some tea with Alice!

Join us for an exciting and creative afternoon exploring theatre design and documentation!

Through a series of workshops, participants will explore their theatre design, costuming and documentation skills with The Rabbit's Riot Theatre Company.

Using natural and man-made materials discovered in their surrounding environment, participants will design and create props with the support of theatre designer Niamh O'Brien.

With an array of costume pieces to choose from, the participants can design from head to toe a theatrical outfit and document their design through photography or video!

These workshops will allow freedom to express individuality in a creative and joyful way, guided by theatre professionals.

A shoutout to Holly O’Connor who created this amazing poster for the show!

With their phones confiscated and boredom kicking in, the campers at Camp Nowhere struggle without constant access to their followers on social media or scrolling mindlessly through TikTok. Little do they know what is coming round the corner…

Facilitated and directed by actor Jay Ryan and playwright Treasa Nealon. Supported by the Leitrim Arts Office and National Youth Theatre Ireland.

We are so thrilled with the reception Effigy received last night at Hawk's Well Theatre, Sligo.

Thank you to the Hawk's Well, The Glens Arts Centre and Splódar Theatre Company for their support with this fiery wee play! Thank you to DVAS - Domestic Violence Advocacy Service & Sligo R**e Crisis Centre for their support and presence in the room.

We have no idea where we'll bring this play next (or even when!) but keep an eye out... There is always something smouldering in the background.

The past three days, performer Órla McSharry and playwright Treasa Nealon have been rehearsing Effigy in The Glens Arts Centre!

Debuted in April last year, we are taking it to Hawk's Well Theatre, Sligo next Wednesday, where tickets are jumping out the door!

Exploring trauma and how abuse destroys families and communities, Effigy has been described by previous audiences as 'humorous, poignant and shocking'.

🔥 Audience reaction for Effigy! 🔥

‘The collaboration between a very clever author and an outstanding actor mark this piece of theatre out as worthy of the term classic.'

'A very gripping play, humorous, poignant and shocking at times. It held my attention from beginning to end. Powerfully played by actor Órla McSharry.'

'The piece deserves wide exposure and has a capacity to entertain and challenge in equal measure. No small achievement. It is hard to imagine it could have worked as well as it does were it not for the perfect synergy of Orla McSharry and Treasa Nealon in collaboration. Every detail is important in this short piece. One moment you find yourself believing a movement or a prop move is merely incidental or just stage functional only to realise that what you have been watching and experiencing are tiny motifs to bring the drama to an outstanding final crescendo. If you get the chance, go and see this work. You will be challenged but only after you have been entertained.'

See it in Hawk's Well Theatre, Sligo on 14th January!

‘I wonder what would happen if I spontaneously combusted in the lobby of this hotel. Would he gather up the ashes of me in his big bold hands and lick them clean?’

Armed with a bin bag full of childhood mementos, Katie returns to her hometown in Leitrim after the man who groomed her as a teenager passes away.

Confronted with her past, the present and a fiery future, she searches for a way to reckon with the hurt that has shaped her adult life.

We’re bringing Effigy (written by Treasa Nealon, starring the fantastic Órla McSharry & technically designed by Caroline Norris) to Hawk's Well Theatre, Sligo on Wednesday, 14th January!

Come get your tickets now before it’s too late!
