Well, this is it! is on the market and I am extremely proud of how it turned out. This project has been extremely difficult, fun, rewarding, stressful, and everything in between. I think and I have several new gray hairs to go with this experience but it’s done and waiting for a buyer make it their’s and enjoy downtown living. A little before and after on this master bath remodel at Yacht Cove on Lake Murray. This is my “quarantine project” meaning I worked on it mostly by myself to limit traffic in the condo. The owners wanted to freshen up this bath without making changes to layout etc so we demo’d the old tile, vanity, and “crusty” fixtures. The shower and floor got a full Schluter treatment, and custom tile install with niche and glass doors. A new vanity cabinet, recessed&lighted medicine cabinet, and under mount sink along with granite countertops make this space modern and bright. The only thing left is a new vanity light that should be in tomorrow but the can/fan over the shower provides plenty of light in the meantime. I’m a big fan of these new LED bulbs that have three color settings built in! @ Lake Murray

The big project today at was installing shiplap around the chimney downstairs and repairing/re-installing the original mantel which has been hiding away in my garage since November. Glad to have had the help of some great carpenters over the last few weeks: Charles, Vincent, and Phillip. They’re leaving us Friday but have really knocked out a ton of heavy duty trim work and repairs on this 100yo home. Memo and his guys pressure washed the exterior in the rain yesterday, and got a little head start on the miles of caulking and thousands of nail holes on our trim work today. Another couple of days to get trim and tile done, then it’s all up to the painters until we get cabinets, hardware, and fixtures. @ Old Shandon, Columbia, South Carolina

Working on a project for a low paying customer, me! Actually this is one of the first renovations other than painting that Robin and I decided to start at our house and it’s looking great so far. This is our downstairs den (split level) and half bath that was basically untouched since the sixties. The half bath was previously converted to a laundry room but we’ve since moved the laundry upstairs. We took out the old paneling and built-in shelving, framed a new wall and insulated every wall cavity we could get to. I’m about halfway through taping the new Sheetrock, and have installed 4 LED 65watt equivalent can lights on a dimmer. If I can get the Sheetrock finished by the weekend we’ll be hanging crown molding, installing baseboards, door casing, and hopefully painting. The half bath will be put back together giving us two and a half. @ Skyland, Columbia
