nomadicArt

nomadicArt nomadicArt is a cultural platform offering diverse creative and artistic activities, which aim to help newly arrived citizens to enter the public arena despite legal obstacles restricting their mobility and inclusion in social life.

The workshops and events are facilitated by nomadicArt and are co-created by migrants both with a professional artistic background and without. They provide a safe space for exchange and action. Besides, nomadicArt aims to connect and include various stakeholders from society: migrants, researchers, volunteers and other actors in the close neighborhood.

nomadicArt is happy to share with Labor Migration & KritEuro from the Humboldt University the event

"Dekoloniales Flanieren"
we invite you to take a different look at Berlin's M*Straße - and to get to know our initiative on site and in action! We are committed to a renaming and to the establishment of a postcolonial remembrance and future laboratory. More about this in our Open Letter "No racism on our doorstep! - which you can read in Labor Migration & KritEuro page.

Ps: We ask all participants to use only the sidewalks and public places during the walk. In addition, please keep a distance between each other and wear protective masks at each stop.

Liebe Interessierte,

The performance artist Ki Park Ki Ki, will carry out an ongoing show with the audience walking along Turmstrasse. She will produce live portraits of the Moabit neighbours.

In her words:
TITLE: Today I Saw Somebody Who Looked Just Like You

TEXT:
Today I saw somebody who looked just like you
She walked like you do I thought it was you
As she turned the corner I called out your name
I felt so ashamed when it wasn't you, wasn't you, oh, oh
How can I forget when each face that I see
Brings back memories of being with you
You are everything and everything is you
Oh, oh you are everything and everything is you
Oh, oh, you are everything and everything is you
Lyrics from The Stylistics - You Are Everything(1971)

We would like to introduce you 7 Berlin-based artists, who will participate in our project with nomadicArt "Neukölln Stories: Memories of a Neighborhood". Jun Suzuki is a French-Japanese sound and video artist. His recent work with immersive sound installation balances tongue-in-cheek and sinister meditations on human responsibility in environmental downfall. We would like to introduce you 7 Berlin-based artists, who will participate in our project with nomadicArt "Neukölln Stories: Memories of a Neighborhood". Marta Medvešek is an audio producer and translator from Croatia. She portrays feelings or atmospheres -of a person, or a place- with sound. Her passion is helping stories cross language borders. #ContemporaryArt #ArtinBerlin #KunstinBerlin #Berlin #Neukölln #BerlinBasedArtists #NeuköllnStories #nomadicArtBerlin
We would like to introduce you 7 Berlin-based artists, who will participate in our project with nomadicArt "Neukölln Stories: Memories of a Neighborhood". Jeremy Philip Knowles is a British lens-based artist. His images draw patterns and humour from the randomness and repetitive non-events that characterise the mundane within our lives – the overlooked and often unnoticed aspects of our existence that make us human. By bringing greater prominence and visibility to the accidental, the miraculous and the comical, we are challenged by Jeremy’s photo series to reconsider the weight of our daily interactions with things and people, and meditate on what happens when we think nothing is happening. We see this project as an exciting and meaningful opportunity to reflect on the social and economic state of Neukölln in transition and its impact on residents and entrepreneurs. #ContemporaryArt #ArtinBerlin #KunstinBerlin #Berlin #Neukölln #nomadicArtBerlin #NeuköllnStories
