We are a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community and welcome members to our Sunday Night Dance. The header for this Sunday June 21st is LGBTQ+ Pride Month Celebration Dance and consists of music with the theme of being one's self and the freedom to love without shame because of who you are. Everyone, whether gay or straight will be able to enjoy and relate to the songs without fear.

In the playlist for St Patrick's Day Dance this Sunday
This Sunday I'm excited to introduce my newest playlist for St. Patrick's Day. Let your spirits and your legs soar with Celtic Woman (actually 4 women) and the High Kings of Scotland. Lift your spirits with Celtic Woman's You Raise Me Up. Let a loved one who has passed connect with your heart in The Green Fields of France by the High Kings. Realize healing and tolerance with The Celtic Tenors' version of Somewhere from the classic movie, West Side Story and Stay Forever Young. Experience the rich bagpipe and orchestral music of Amazing Grace. Answer Ireland's Call and relish Irish Pub Song the world over.

I can hardly wait to see everyone. Ecstatic and Freestyle dancers and Ballroom and Swing dancers will find a reason to glide on the dance floor throughout the evening.

Last Sunday April 17th Dawna taught us a Waltz progression in which you take a basic right turning box step and break it up into arcs of varying lengths in order to optimize your movement across the ballroom. You can do the same thing with a left turning box. It all sounds very geometrical, but once you get it into your "muscle memory" it feels and looks beautiful.

The Lesson

Tonight Sunday December 12 at 7:30 Dawna Nocera will give a lesson in the Rumba, a romantic Latin dance that has its origins in Afro-Cuban music. Designed for beginners, her group instruction always bestows gems for experienced dancers as well. Refined Rumba dancers exhibit breathtaking control of their Cuban hip motion, which explains why the Rumba is called the Dance of Love.

Social Dancing

From 8 to 10 we will play music from Playlist #11. Get even with a lost lover by dancing the Rumba to the duet by Gotye and Kimbra, "Somebody That I Used to Know." Then "Don't be afraid to show your true colors" and Rumba to Phil Collins,' well, you guessed it, "True Colors." Jump up and show your stuff with Bruno Mars' "24-Karat Magic." Soar to the heavens with Beyonce's "Halo." Get high on the most exhilarating hustle in Phil Collins' "Sussudio." Enjoy "The Time of Your Life" with Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes--the song made famous in Dirty Dancing with Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.
