“Forest Headwaters” 12” x 9” Oil, Plein Air from my favorite bend in the creek in Olmsted Falls, Ohio, about 10 minutes from my home. I love spending time at this peaceful location. “Pathway Cloaked in Mist” oil 14” x 11”, The Oregon coast is full of secret paths tucked away here and there waiting like treasures to be discovered. With the proximity of the Pacific Ocean, the northwest is often blanketed in a rolling mist creating an atmosphere of mystery. I love painting scenes from that area to play with elusive shadows, edges and quickly reducing values. This painting is available on my website. Link on my profile or message me.

Today I made a video demonstrating the importance of working with values and how to capture atmosphere. This reference scene was from a beautiful foggy morning in the Cotswolds during last year’s workshop. I also demonstrated the “why and how” of painting with my two foot long brushes I bought in London! 😅 I hope to have this video up by tomorrow 🤞🏼I’ll keep you posted.

Just had my six month MRI meeting with my oncologist. I’M CANCER FREE!! There is no more cancer!!! Thank you for being with me all these 10 years of this journey. I’ve grown and learned so much. Thank you for your prayers, positivity and well wishes. Your friendship has been an anchor for me. God bless you and have a wonderful holiday season! ❤️

Hi everyone! Fall is quickly coming to a close here in Ohio. While we still have some last remaining colors, the forest is more taupe-ish grey than our standard autumnal brilliance. This is my last fall video this year and I couldn’t avoid setting up on the bank of my favorite river. I know I have quite a few videos like this, but I always offer new insights and topics in every video.

In this one, I focus on directing the viewer throughout the painting using compositional choices and color, among several other useful painting objectives that you might find helpful in your next adventure!
