Come for the glacier. Stay like a local.

One of our recent guests stayed at the GreenHouse while exploring Matanuska Glacier — and loved having a cozy little home base in Palmer.

They mentioned how easy it was to get to local groceries and restaurants in Palmer, enjoyed the mountain views, and told us they’d definitely stay again.

And honestly, this is one of the things we love about the GreenHouse. You can spend the day chasing Alaska adventures and then come back to a quiet little place in Palmer where you can make dinner, relax, and feel a little less like a tourist.

The Alaska State Fair began as a celebration of the hard work and harvest of Alaska’s farmers.

The first fair was held in Palmer in 1936. It featured giant vegetables, horse races, a rodeo, boxing, dancing, and baseball.

The giant cabbage tradition has been around since 1941.

Today, the fair has grown quite a bit, but that original spirit is still there: agriculture, food, flowers, family, friends and a whole lot of Alaska-sized fun.
