Sonic The Hedgehog Dragon Ball Z AU! Early Android Saga! This is a parody of the episodes of Dragon Ball Z where Trunks first appeared, shocked everyone, and then revealed his identity and story to Goku.
It’s no secret that Sonic takes a lot of inspiration from Dragon Ball, so I thought it would be fun to draw this!
Here’s all the counterparts and why I chose them

Trunks: Silver. Self-explanatory as hell. Both come from the future and are here to prevent a dismal fate. Extremely similar personalities.
Vegeta: Shadow. Edgy anti-heroes originally introduced as antagonists who wind up becoming the main character’s rival. Dark and brooding. Rough exterior. Complex interior. Tragic backstories. Even his quills point in a way that resembles Vegeta’s hair a bit, and that red streak on the middle of his head looks like it’s making a pseudo widow’s peak 👌
Bulma: Amy Rose. It was important to fulfill certain criteria - she, like Bulma, has known the main protagonist for a very long time. Both Bulma and Amy also share that sweet/spicy personality trait, where they can be speaking from the heart in one scene or losing their temper and bludgeoning someone in the next 🙈…it is also important that both Bulma and Amy managed to “talk down” Vegeta/Shadow each in their own ways, Amy on the Ark (and in Archie comics too) and Bulma on many occasions, starting with how he would inexplicably (albeit begrudgingly) listen to her post Namek even before they were in a relationship. Finally, there’s a parallel to be drawn in Amy having a big crush on Sonic from early on, which can somewhat parallel Bulma having an on-again-off-again relationship with Yamcha since very early on in Dragon Ball, therefore the reveal from Trunks regarding his parentage was a surprise at the time. The only aspect Amy is missing is the genius/intellect to build a time machine, but this is addressed below under Gohan…
Goku: Sonic. Main character! It doesn’t stop there, though, because I can see similar free-spirited traits in both. Both have a positive attitude. Both seem to befriend former rivals. They’re not 100% identical, with Sonic being more sassy, but there’s definitely many major and important similarities!
Gohan: Tails. While not literally Sonic’s child, Tails is the closest thing in his baby-brother role and the guidance and care Sonic has towards him. Also, to make up for the fact that Amy lacks one aspect of Bulmas’s that is crucial to the Android Saga story, the intellect to build a time machine, that can be addressed if Tails is Gohan - in the bad future, only Bulma, Trunks, and Gohan survive. In this case, that would be Amy, Silver, and Tails - so HE can be the one to build the time machine and teach Silver and Amy how to run and maintain it (before his untimely demise in this case).
Piccolo: Knuckles. Very similar characters with parallels. Both also started off as antagonists that became rivals to the main protagonists and pre-date Vegeta/Shadow in that role. Verrrry similar vibe/personalities. You can also draw another parallel with one’s association with the Dragon Balls and the other’s with the Chaos Emeralds. As you can see from his expression, he overheard everything Silver and Sonic talked about :3
Krillin, Tenshinhan, Chaozu: Espio, Vector, Charmy. Team Chaotix has been around since the 1990s so I thought having older characters be these warriors that have been around since before Z began makes sense. I picked the best possible counterpart for each looking at their physical traits.
I don’t have a Yamcha counterpart because Sonic fulfils Yamcha’s role in a way here too and it wouldn’t make sense for anyone else to be him, but he’s primarily fulfilling Goku’s role, so that’s how he’s portrayed here.
