For my new (and old) followers, I’d like to introduce myself, as well as talk about this page! 🍪🎨
My name is Kayla, and I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. Over the years, drawing turned into painting (with a niche for cows, apparently), and painting turned into cookie cakes. But how did that dramatic of a shift come into effect to change my entire art page and share it with baking?
It’s simple and complicated in the same.
This year, I unfortunately suffered two miscarriages. They were my first pregnancies ever, and they both happened within six months of each other. It was an absolute hell that I wouldn’t wish on anyone, let alone did I ever think it would be possible to happen to me. I was so depressed that I didn’t even know if I ever wanted to get out of bed again. I neglected my passions, neglected the other business I had built with my husband, and honestly wanted to neglect just about everything that came my way.
As I was laying in bed after the D&C (my second), staring at my phone, doomscrolling TikTok, I came across some women who make amazing cookies cakes. I’ve always had an interest in baking and cake decorating but was way better at cooking, so I had always written it off as a “maybe one day”. And for some reason, in my weird grief and stasis, I turned to my husband and said, “Hey, I think I could turn my art into cookie cakes.” And him, being the best supporter and partner ever, went out and bought me my first ever mixer the very next day. It was history from there.
I’m not sure why it took tragedy to take up something I’ve been wanting to try but never had the confidence to do. Sometimes our grief can set us on paths we never knew possible. It’s really helped me find a strange little niche between all of my interests and hobbies, which, in turn, has helped me get out of a funk in one of the worst periods of my life.
I love making art. I love writing (that’s a story for another day, ‘cause it’s my soul’s passion on its own). And now, I really love making cute, beautiful, or weird little cakes for all of you to sit back and remember fondly in a few years while talking to others.
So… when you need a custom fix, whether it’s a cake, a painting, or whatever your heart desires… I’m here to deliver. And I’ll be more than happy to do so, because you’d be helping my heart and my soul mend in ways that I never thought possible.
