𝐎𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐘𝐎𝐍 | 𝐃𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐥𝐨, 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐭𝐚𝐤

‎Bakit may mikropono ang misogyny, pero ang decency ay wala?
‎
‎Sa mga nakalipas na araw, muling sumiklab ang diskurso tungkol sa misogyny sa Pilipinas — hindi biro o simpleng pagkakamali sa pananalita, kundi sistematikong pagpapakita ng kawalan ng respeto at pag‑objectify sa kababaihan. Sa ating bansa, ilang personalidad ang muling nag‑paalala na ang patriyarkal na kaisipan ay hindi pa rin namamatay.

‎Si 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚, sa mga pahayag na nag-viral, ay nagpakita ng blatant na disrespect sa kababaihan. Si 𝐀𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧 naman ay nagkomento na ang kababaihan ay dapat magsuot nang “𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐲,” na para bang inilalagay sa kanila ang pananagutan sa pag-uugali o pagnanasa ng lalaki. At siyempre, si 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐲, isang congressman, ay nagpahayag ng kanyang “𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐫𝐞” sa harap ng publiko, isang pahayag na malinaw na objectification. Hindi rin nagpahuli si 𝐅𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐨, na sa halip na itama ang maling pananaw, ay 𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐚 𝐬𝐚 𝐦𝐠𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐧𝐚 𝐩𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐠. Inihayag nya mula sa radio program na ang pag-iisip ng mga sekswal na bagay ay hindi isang krimen.

‎Ang problema rito ay hindi simpleng insulto o biro. Ito ay sistematikong pagtingin na naglalagay sa kababaihan sa mas mababang posisyon ng halaga at karapatan. Kapag ang mga nasa posisyon ng kapangyarihan ay nagsasalita ng ganoon, nakakaimpluwensya ito sa pampublikong isip at nagbubukas ng pinto para sa sexism, harassment, at diskriminasyon.

‎Hindi sapat ang paghingi ng paumanhin. Hindi sapat ang pagpapanggap na “harmless joke.” Ang mga pahayag nina Robin, Alvin, B**g Suntay, at ang depensa ni Topacio ay malinaw na senyales na may 𝐝𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐥𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐚, 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐤 — 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐦 𝐬𝐚 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐝, 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐨, 𝐚𝐭 𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐠 𝐤𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐢𝐡𝐚𝐧. Hangga’t patuloy tayong mananahimik o tatanggap sa ganitong kultura, hangga’t patuloy ang misogyny sa mikropono habang ang decency ay nananatiling wala, wala tayong maaasahang tunay na pagbabago sa lipunan.

May mga batas na nagpoprotekta sa kababaihan, pero walang batas na makakapagdikta ng dangal. Kahit ikaw ay opisyal, nakatapos ng mataas na edukasyon, o miyembro ng Kongreso o Senado, walang titulo ang makapagsabi ng iyong pagiging disente—ito ay isang bagay na likas sa bawat isa.

Four decades ago, the streets of EDSA became the stage of a historic and peaceful uprising that reshaped the course of the nation. The EDSA People Power Revolution stood as a powerful testament to what unity, courage, and collective action can achieve when the voice of the people rises above fear and oppression.

As we commemorate its 40th Anniversary, we are reminded that EDSA was more than a moment—it was a movement rooted in the Filipino people’s unwavering commitment to democracy, freedom, and justice. Ordinary citizens, bound by a shared purpose, proved that real power does not come from authority alone, but from the people who demand accountability and uphold democratic values.

For today’s generation, especially the youth, the legacy of 𝐄𝐃𝐒𝐀 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. It challenges us to remain vigilant, informed, and engaged in shaping a society grounded in truth, good governance, and respect for human rights. Remembering EDSA is not merely an act of looking back, but a call to carry forward its ideals in our daily actions and civic participation.

The Pillar honor this historic milestone by reaffirming our role in preserving truth, amplifying voices, and fostering critical discourse—ensuring that the spirit of People Power continues to inspire present and future generations.

𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐔𝐌𝐍 | 𝐇𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐤 𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐮𝐬𝐨, 𝐇𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐚

Para sa maraming estudyante, nagsisimula ang Araw ng mga Puso tulad ng anumang araw: maagang alarma, mga natitirang takdang-aralin sa mesa, at ang karaniwang pagmamadali papuntang paaralan. Ang romansa ay tila isang luho kapag iniisip mo pa ang mga pagsusulit, deadline, at kung makakahabol ka pa ba sa jeep bago sumikip ang trapiko. “Heto na naman tayo,” sambit natin—isang mahabang araw ang nakahain.

Sa mga silid-aralan at pasilyo, gayunpaman, nag-iiba ang kapaligiran. Lalong tumataas ang tawa. May ilang estudyante na may dalang bulaklak at tsokolate, habang ang iba ay tinutukso ang kanilang mga kaibigang walang karelasyon. Ang Araw ng mga Puso ay nagiging entablado kung saan ipinapakita ang pagmamahal—minsan matamis, minsan labis, at minsan nakakailang.

Ngunit hindi lahat ay pipiliing gumanap sa papel na iyon.

Sa halip na habulin ang malalaking romantikong kilos, tahimik na bumibili ang isang estudyante ng bulaklak para sa kanyang ina. Walang spotlight, walang dramatikong pagpapahayag—isang simpleng kilos ng pasasalamat lamang. Isang katok sa pinto. Isang mahiyaing ngiti. Isang taos-pusong bati.

At biglang, nagiging kakaiba ang Araw ng mga Puso.

Pinaaalala nito sa atin na ang pagmamahal ay hindi limitado sa magkasintahan o mga candlelit dinner. Matatagpuan ito sa araw-araw na sakripisyo na madalas nating hindi napapansin—ang mga handang pagkain, ang libreng payo, at ang palaging presensya ng isang taong laging nandiyan. Ang romantikong pagmamahal ay maaaring dumaan at mawala, ngunit ang pagmamahal ng magulang ay matatag at walang hanggang.

Sa mundong nagtutulak sa atin na sukatin ang pagmamahal batay sa katayuan sa relasyon, banayad nitong hinahamon ang ideya na iyon. Hindi mo kailangan ng kapareha para mas meaningful na ipagdiwang ang Araw ng mga Puso. Minsan, ang pinakatuos na pagpapahayag ng pagmamahal ay nakalaan sa taong unang nagturo sa’yo kung ano ang tunay na kahulugan ng pagmamahal.

Marahil, ang tunay na mensahe ng Araw ng mga Puso ay hindi kung sino ang humahawak ng iyong kamay sa publiko—kundi kung sino ang unang humawak ng iyong kamay.

From the heart of Dagupan rose a leader whose voice echoed across the nation. 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞 “𝐉𝐨𝐞” 𝐃𝐞 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚 𝐉𝐫., who served an unprecedented five terms as 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞, exemplified steadfast leadership, unity, and dedication to public service.

Though his work shaped national policies and strengthened the country’s economic foundations, he remained deeply rooted in the values of his hometown. A true Dagupeño at heart, he carried with him the discipline, resilience, and community spirit that defined his journey.

From Dagupan to the national stage, Speaker Jose De Venecia Jr. lived a life defined by dedication and purpose. His leadership went beyond titles—it was about building bridges, creating opportunities, and guiding the country through change. Even in the highest office, he never forgot where he came from. Today, we remember his legacy with gratitude and pride. Rest well, Speaker Joe.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | 𝐂𝐁𝐏𝐀 students brought energy and teamwork to the 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞 during 𝐋𝐚𝐫𝐨 𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐚𝐡𝐢. The activity required participants to move together in perfect coordination, highlighting cooperation, focus, and determination. More than just a game, it encouraged trust, strengthened bonds among peers, and celebrated the unity and spirit of the College of Business and Public Administration community.

Officers from the Young Public Administrators’ Guild, took part in the 𝐓𝐀𝐘𝐎 𝐀𝐍𝐆 𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃𝐆𝐎𝐕 𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍: 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐬𝐚 𝐓𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦 on January 23, 2026, held at the Don Telesforo N. Boquiren Convention Hall. The engagement strengthened their understanding of ethical governance, citizen-focused leadership, and the vital responsibilities carried by public servants.

Through their participation, YPAG officers reaffirmed their role as future administrators committed to reform and service. Grounded in integrity and driven by a sense of public duty, they demonstrated how empowered youth can shape a governance culture built on accountability, trust, and collective progress.

“𝐏𝐀𝐠𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐦” 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞

The 𝐘𝐏𝐀𝐆 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐥 organized “𝐏𝐀𝐠𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐦: 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬, 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬,” a mental health awareness seminar held on January 21, 2026, at the Don Telesforo N. Boquiren Convention Hall.

The whole-day seminar brought together students and faculty members to promote mental health literacy and encourage open conversations on emotional well-being. It featured a series of talks that addressed common mental health challenges faced by students.

𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐉𝐮𝐯𝐲 𝐎. 𝐍𝐮𝐞𝐯𝐨 discussed practical strategies in her talk, “Dealing with Bullies and Online Dangers,” emphasizing the importance of kindness in both words and actions.

𝐌𝐫. 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐂. 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚 delivered “Why Mental Health Matters,” highlighting the importance of awareness of mental health disorders and concluding with a powerful reminder that no one is meant to face these struggles alone.

The afternoon session concluded with “Coping with Family and Social Pressure,” presented by 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐏. 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐳, which explored emotional stressors arising from personal and societal expectations.

The program ended with the awarding of certificates and closing remarks from the YPAG adviser and president, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to advancing mental health advocacy and student well-being.

He shared practical strategies to help students manage expectations and emotional stress, emphasizing the importance of openly communicating one’s feelings. He also highlighted the issue of isolation, explaining how withdrawing from others can negatively impact mental health. Mr. Dela Cruz encouraged students to seek support from friends, family, and mentors, reminding them that connection plays a vital role in healing and personal growth.

He emphasized that mental disorders are real—characterized by clinically significant disturbances that affect an individual’s thoughts, emotions, and behavior. He firmly clarified that these conditions are 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝗷𝗼𝗸𝗲, calling for greater understanding, compassion, and respect toward those experiencing mental health challenges.

𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐔𝐌𝐍 | 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐨𝐥 𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐩 𝐬𝐚 𝐈𝐤𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞

Ang ikalawang semestre ay isang pagkakataon na muling magpatuloy at mag-abante. Ang mga estudyante ay magbabalik sa silid-aralan, bitbit ang mga pangarap at responsibilidad. Sa likod ng mga ngiti at pangarap, may mga laban na kailangang harapin.

Ang mga hamon ng ikalawang semestre ay hindi magiging biro. May mga estudyanteng magpupuyat para sa mga proyekto, mag-aaral para sa mga pagsusulit, at magpapatuloy sa kabila ng pagod. Ngunit sa kabila ng mga pagsubok na ito, may mga estudyanteng magpapatuloy dahil sa mga pangarap na nais nilang abutin.

Nakikita ito sa mga estudyanteng paakyat ng hagdan: bitbit ang bag, pangarap, at kulang na tulog. Gaslayt man ang pakiramdam, may kakaibang lakas na nagtutulak para magpatuloy. Hindi dahil madali ang lahat, kundi dahil may dahilan kung bakit tayo narito.

Ang edukasyon ay hindi lang tungkol sa mga grado o attendance, kundi tungkol sa paghubog ng mga karakter, pagbuo ng mga pangarap, at pagtahak ng mga landas tungo sa tagumpay. Sa bawat hakbang papasok ng campus, may pangarap na muling inaakyat.

Kaya kung pakiramdam mo ay kulang ka sa tulog, gana, o motibasyon, hindi ka nag-iisa. Ang ikalawang semestre ay kolektibong laban ng mga estudyante. At sa bawat araw na pinipili nating pumasok, isa na iyong maliit ngunit mahalagang tagumpay.

Tuloy pa rin, kahit pagod man. Dahil sa huli, ang edukasyon ay hindi lang tungkol sa pagkuha ng diploma, kundi tungkol sa paghubog ng mga taong may tibay ng loob at determinasyon.
