2026년 병오년(丙午年) ‘붉은 말’의 해!
붉은 말은 뜨거운 열정과 멈추지 않는 ‘도전’을 상징한다고 합니다.

제게 올해는 글로벌 스토리텔러로서 걸어온 지 19주년이 되는 뜻깊은 해입니다. 내년 20주년이라는 큰 매듭을 앞두고, 그동안 쌓아온 경험과 준비해온 이야기들을 하나씩 세상에 나누려 합니다.

새로운 도전을 앞두고 망설여지는 순간이 있다면, 올해의 기운을 빌려 힘차게 달려 나가시길 응원해요. 누군가를 깊이 사랑하는 마음이 우리에게 가장 큰 용기를 주듯, 여러분이 사랑하는 그 꿈이 여러분을 가장 멋진 곳으로 인도할 거라 믿습니다.

여러분의 새로운 도전에 힘이 될 기분 좋은 ‘말’들이 가득한 한 해가 되길 소망합니다.

2026 is the year of the ‘Red Horse’. It is said that the Red Horse symbolizes passion, vitality, and the spirit of ‘Challenge.’
Personally, this year marks a meaningful milestone as it is my 19th anniversary as a global storyteller. Leading up to the big 20th anniversary next year, I am excited to begin sharing the stories and experiences I’ve experienced along the way with the world, one by one.”
If you are standing before a new beginning, I hope the energy of this year gives you the strength to take that first leap. Just as deep love provides us with the ultimate courage, I believe the passion you have for your dreams will guide you to extraordinary places.

As a storyteller, I know that every beautiful flower has a backstory of rain, dirt, and time. Healthy love is no different. It isn’t just the vibrant bloom we see today but it’s the quiet work of watering the roots when no one is watching. It’s the patience to wait through the winter and the strength to open up when the spring sun finally shines!

This Valentine’s Day, let’s celebrate the love that is still growing, still learning, and still finding its way toward the light. 🌱🌸

김치스토리는 김치의 의미를 새롭게 재조명하고 김치를 먹을 때마다 진정한 사랑의 의미를 떠올릴 게 합니다. 이런 지혜의 스토리를 전세계 보육원 아이들 그리고 가난한 아이들과 나누는 “글로벌 김치 패밀리” 캠페인을 진행하고 있습니다. 글로벌 패밀리 캠페인 1탄 말레이시아 보육원, 이어 2탄은 한국 보육원, 그리고 3탄은 ‘김치 크리스마스’ 캠페인으로 아프리카에 있는 학생들에게 선물로 책을 보내려고 합니다. 참가하신 모든 분들에게 2025년 1월11일에 있을 “KIMCHI NEW YEAR” 스토리텔링 온라인 콘서트 무료 초대권을 드립니다.

Anyone who has ever read the story will think of the true meaning of love whenever he or she eats kimchi.
Now I continue to share it with orphans and children in need in the world through the ”Global Kimchi Family“ campaign. So far we donated the books to the children in Sibu Methodist Children’s Home, Sarawak, Malaysia and to the orphans in Shinmangwon, Korea.

On December 7th, Insook Jeong, Dean of the Department of East Asian Contents at the Graduate School of Welfare Management at Namseoul University, invited Seung Ah Kim to give a special lecture to her Vietnamese students on the topic of ‘Creative Cultural Leadership through Kimchi Storytelling.’ Seung Ah gave them an example of global cultural leadership by telling her story, “The Story of Kimchi” and talked about the “Global Kimchi Family” campaign. She also told them a famous folktale from Vietnam, ‘The Star Fruit Tree’ in Korean. They discussed what message Vietnamese people can give the world through the story and what cultural leadership is.

“Scheherazade of the Land of Kimchi” is the nickname given to Seung Ah by Professor Phan Thi Thu Hien from University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City. Seung Ah’s lecture began with the story of her visit to Cafe Dai Han with Prof. Hien in June last year. She shared her memories of Vietnam by showing photos of Cafe Tai Han, where Tran Van Lai, the hero who led the Saigon Special Forces during the Vietnam War, discovered the Viet Cong’s hideout and secret weapon. The story immediately brought them together. Seung Ah has travelled many countries to spread Korean culture with all her heart, but also she has tried her best to learn about other culture from the countries she visited. Her cultural communication skills were effective to interact with the Vietnamese students. Of course, storytelling is one of the virtues a leader must possess. In this global and multicultural era, cultural leadership is absolutely necessary. Empathy warms the world. In the future, Seung Ah wanted to share more love with the world as a global cultural leader through “The Story of Kimchi.”
