Something important to share!
FRIENDSHIPS...
several years ago we made a dream come true, by starting a textile art center. As a felting and textile artist it was a small step to create a facility that could host similar courses for like minded artists, students and tutors.
With the help of my fellow felting artist and dear friend, Margriet Van Dam , we hatched the plan. And with the hard work of my lovely husband our huge barn was converted into a cool studio space.
We were thrilled that the interest was plenty and we had a successful first season. We met lovely people, witnessed beautiful creations and learned the most inspirational techniques.
Every following year the crowd got bigger and required the growth of our enterprise, by creating more sleeping accommodations, adding more tables to the studio and we certainly needed a larger dinner table. Despite minor setbacks it has been a great experience and continues to be.
It is no secret that I am very proud of what we have achieved, but the thing that really touched my heart are the people who stay with us. How much fun they have, how they help each other and most of all, how many friendships are formed. Regardless of their age or their nationality, regardless of their artistic experience...it makes no difference. Hearts and minds are open, and result in true friendships.
In this era, when the world is under pressure and decency seems to be out of the window, these friendships give me hope. What a joy to witness it and to be part of it...
