My amazing friends gave me the absolute biggest surprise of my life today!!

I arrived at Rainbow to find the multifunction room filled with so many of my favourite people, all there to celebrate the launch of my first book. I was (and still am) completely overwhelmed by the amount of thought, time, and effort that went into planning this for me - and by every single person who showed up to celebrate with me.

I truly don’t have the words to express how much this meant to me. What started as something I quietly created for myself has turned into something I get to share with so many people I love, and I feel incredibly lucky to have so many amazing humans in my life. Hearing their kind words and listening to them share their own personal experiences reading it has truly been more than I ever could have imagined it would be.

Today was so special, and I will never forget it. 🥹

Since I started posting on this account consistently, my following has grown significantly. I realized today that there are quite a few people who follow me now who don’t actually know me in real life.

So, I figured it might be a good time to introduce myself. Hi 👋🏼 I’m Erin! I’m 31 and from a little town called Witless Bay. Here are 12 facts about me:

1. I’ve been writing poetry for 9 years & just released my first book. I wrote most of Uncensored on paper before ever thinking it would become a book. No one would be more surprised than the version of me who started writing all those years ago that it’s now out in the world.

2. I’ve been riding horses for over 20 years & have had my horse Sonny for almost 19 of them. Horses are a huge part of both my personal life and my career.

3. I’m simultaneously an overthinker and someone who makes extremely impulsive decisions. I’m proud of both of those things.

4. I have a Border Collie named Milo who is smarter than most people.

5. I’m much better at writing my feelings than saying them out loud. I’m working on that.

6. I play Ultimate Frisbee, and it is somehow currently both my favourite stress release and the biggest cause of my stress.

7. I’m a (recovering) people pleaser. Putting myself before others and staying true to myself when doing so risks hurting or disappointing someone else is something I’m still learning.

8. I work at Rainbow Riders, a therapeutic riding centre where children and adults with disabilities ride and interact with horses. It is a truly magical place, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it.

9. My absolute favourite way to spend a night is sitting around a table with people I love, talking about anything that’s below the surface.

10. I recently started using my typewriter again & it’s become my favourite pastime.

11. I’m conversational in ASL. It’s something I genuinely love, and I’m always working on becoming more fluent.

12. I started writing because I’ve always found peace in reading words someone else wrote that described something I could relate to. Hearing that people have had that same experience reading my words has been more than I ever could have hoped for.
