Want to hear me talk about my history megagaming?

I had a lovely chat with Patrick from The Great Game Podcast, all about how I originally got into megagames (long story short: blame Tim), what megagames were like pre-Watch The Skies, what made me start designing games and my thoughts about how megagames have changed over the twelve years I've been in the hobby.

Honestly I hate relistening to myself once I've recorded something, so I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!

First escape room since June 2024 😮 but we've still got it - just! Got out of Nottah Temple at Tulleys Escape Rooms Hatton with just three and a half minutes to spare, but considering how tough Tulleys' rooms are I'm just glad we got out at all!

I don't think it's my favourite of Tulleys' or even my favourite at this site. Signposting was definitely less good than in their other rooms, and it was a shame to see one of their games had a broken component that made it significantly harder. But there were also some incredibly cool parts of the room, with so many layers and interesting inputs! And fantastic to get back to escaping with the OG Loct In team 🥰

I designed Everybody Dies TEN YEARS AGO 😮 and naturally it's made me a bit reflective. So check my link in bio for a blog post about some of the things I'm proudest of... and some things I'm still not happy with after 4 different runs of the game.

FYI the core game handbooks are also available to download on my website for an optional donation, or for £10 you can get a non-Westeros version of the Small Council Game (one of the things I'm proudest of 😊)

Thanks to Jon and Rachel for sharing some photos of Mystery at the Wedding at their special day in November. So glad your guests had fun discussing and solving the game!

Spoiler - I was actually at this wedding so here are also some photos of me and Tim having an excellent time! I'm only sad that I couldn't play the game as I knew what the answer was, but it was fantastic seeing and hearing others getting into it!

If you want a version of Mystery at the Wedding at your own wedding, just check out the details on my website: https://beckybeckyblogs.com/portfolio/mystery-at-the-wedding/

Interested in having a mystery game at your wedding? Three versions of my Cluedo-inspired wedding game are now available, including a fully customised version based on your relationship!

As fans of this blog may know, my wedding in 2022 featured an original game design called Theft at the Ticky Museum. This was a Cluedo-inspired mystery game that began…

Start a new year as you mean to go on... and I mean to go on solving excellent puzzle boxes like this one from The Mystery Agency!

I don’t know about anyone else, but I have a stack of mystery games about as tall as I am that I need to get around to playing. So I…

What do you do if you're an escape room fanatic but have a small baby and no time to be locked in rooms any more?

Turn to outdoor puzzle trails, like this one from Treasure Trails, of course, and combine taking a pram walk with solving some clues!

I miss escape rooms. As you may expect, having a baby doesn’t lend itself to locking yourself in a room for an hour and focusing diligently on complicated clues and…

Having a baby has surprisingly given me more time to play video games (or maybe that's the maternity leave, now I think about it).

So here's another video game review - this time, puzzle game Paper Trail!

Having a small baby may have stopped me from doing any megagames and escape rooms (so far), and affected my ability to play board games, but it’s actually given me…

I'm missing my escape room fix, so here are some of my tips on how to escape rooms.

Starting with number one - look EVERYWHERE. Main reason I get stuck is that I've not checked a pocket or something daft.

ICYMI, escaping escape rooms is one of my favourite things to do. I got engaged in an escape room, I did one the day after BOTH my weddings, and to…

For best results, only read this first paragraph. This game is amazing, and the less you know, the better. If you enjoy mystery games where you discover things as you…
