A wonderful start to our trip visiting at , listening to so many insightful talks on honouring art and sculpture, the love for ‘blue & white’, and generally finding out more about the beautiful properties and the stories behind them. It’s always fascinating to learn about the places in which our work will be home to, and how we are suited to which projects and why.

We’re all set for the rest of the week where we’re meeting galleries, interior designers and showrooms, and are grateful for every opportunity to be here.

Designing our lighting elements takes considerable time to understand their functionality and how each piece will aesthetically integrate into the overall composition. We’re currently exploring gilding applications, including Gold Leaf, and patination on imitation leaf with waxes and lacquers, to assess their durability and longevity, ensuring that our lighting pieces remain at their most optimal over time.

Illuminated fractured rocks are fused to the sleek glass body of ‘Fracture’, a sculptural lighting installation from our main collection.

Each glistening shard is surrounded by impactful negative space to draw the viewer into the mesmerising details and elegance of each fractured element.

We were delighted to work with Kartar and Seibo on this fantastic customised ‘Fracture’ Collection piece where we experimented with a variety of warm gold and brown tones for the glass chunks. Link in bio to read more on ‘Fracture’.

‘Fracture’ celebrates the states of water, from a ‘liquid’ body to solid fractured ice adornments.

Our new work commissioned by has been customised with Gold Amber and Bronze coloured glass rocks to suit the interior space. We are always so proud to see our collections come alive.

FRACTURE - Custom

We’re excited to announce another fantastic new sculptural lighting installation has been completed in a beautiful private residential in Loughborough, commissioned by Kartar & Seibo.

Our set Collection, ‘Fracture’ has been customised with a beautiful golden brown colour palette for the fractured rock detailing, where we tested a range of amber and bronze glass with our UK glassblowers.

The installation consists of 5 illuminated glass components with integrated LED light source and 15 decorative glass pieces with gold plated metal finish.

Happy Birthday to R&S! 🌿

With a new influx of followers, we thought we would introduce ourselves and celebrate another successful year building Rock & Soar!

Alison Smith (left) and Monica Polonio (right) founded Rock & Soar in 2022 to follow their passion in the creation of meaningful, sculptural lighting installations that encompass story-telling, dare with colour, and celebrate exquisite craftsmanship.

Collectively with over 16 years experience in the luxury industry, their knowledge of the market, materials, techniques and processes enables them to produce thought-provoking, highly aesthetic designs for high-end interiors.

Monica’s background consists of business development and sales within the luxury market, and is always there to support clients with the R&S process.

Alison has worked in the sculpture lighting world since 2015, and with a background in craft, her knowledge of material and light is extensive and allows R&S to flourish in its creativity and designs.

Together, they work with a team of product engineers, craftspeople, manufacturers, assembly workers and installers to create each piece of artwork.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us grow. We honestly can’t thank you enough. It’s been challenging and incredibly hard work but we love being able to produce memorable, beautiful designs for people to see and experience.

LUXURY IN CRAFT: THROUGH THE LENS OF GLASSMAKERS
This conversation, centred around glassmaking techniques, explores the idea of ‘luxury’ in craft – what does it really mean? Is it a useful term? And what makes a craft piece ‘high end’?. We’ll discuss the techniques and processes behind crafting with glass – the challenges and opportunities of the medium, and how our panel are pushing boundaries with the form. You’ll hear how our makers began their journey into craft as well as their inspirations, particularly around the work being showcased at Craftworks.
