🧅The Onion Archive CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS 🧅
You’ve been to The Onion? We want to hear from you!!
The Onion is Manchester’s brand spanking new pop-up social centre, located at the old Sure Start Nursery on Slade Lane in Levenshulme. Since opening on the 18th of January, The Onion has been full of activity, a veritable hub for all things community power and collective care.
Grassroots projects like The Onion leave a massive impact on their communities, but too often precious little is recorded, documented and preserved. This archival project will catalogue all things Onion, holding space to celebrate the wealth of activity and community that is arising around The Onion.
To build our Onion Archive we need artefacts to collect. We want anything and everything Onion you’ve got. Whatever your engagement with The Onion, please submit your material for us to collect in the archive. Some examples of Onion Artefacts you could submit …
- Photos or videos from your visit
- Objects you’ve made at The Onion
- Copies of zines, stickers, etc. that you’ve left at The Onion
- Poems or other writing you’ve written about, at or prompted by The Onion
- Audio recordings of you sharing your experience at The Onion
- Notes on activities you’ve attended
- Posters for activities you’ve hosted
- Recipes for food you’ve made at or brought to The Onion
- Shopping lists or receipts from when you’ve sourced Onion supplies
- The location of good dumpster diving spots that you’ve definitely totally not used to source supplies
- Anything else you can think of!!
We’re hoping to exhibit our Onion Artefacts at the end of the current three week program, in celebration of everything Onion we’ve achieved so far.
