[VN Below] ECLIPSE GOES TO KOREA 🇰🇷

I’m deeply honored to share that INNER DEATH has officially been invited to perform at the 17th Daejeon International Small Theater Festival 2026 in South Korea.

We will present two performances and an audience discussion this September 2026 in Daejeon.

For me, this is more than an international invitation.
It’s a reminder that experimental theatre from Vietnam can travel - not just geographically, but emotionally and culturally.

INNER DEATH was created from questions that felt personal, fragile, and at times uncomfortable. To see this work resonate beyond our own community is both humbling and encouraging.

I’m grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey - the collaborators who trusted the process, the partners who supported the development, and especially the audiences who filled the theatre in December 2025 and gave the work its first real breath.

Before Korea, we will reopen two special performances of INNER DEATH at Eclipse’s new home.
Only two shows.

The journey continues.

INNER DEATH đã chính thức được mời tham gia Liên hoan Sân khấu Kịch nhỏ Quốc tế Daejeon 2026 tại Hàn Quốc với 2 suất diễn và 1 buổi giao lưu vào tháng 9/2026.

Với tôi, đây không chỉ là một lời mời quốc tế.
Đó là sự khẳng định rằng sân khấu thể nghiệm từ Việt Nam có thể bước ra ngoài biên giới, chạm đến những đối thoại rộng hơn.

INNER DEATH được tạo ra từ những câu hỏi rất riêng, rất mong manh. Việc tác phẩm được đón nhận ở một không gian quốc tế là điều vừa khiêm nhường, vừa tiếp thêm động lực.

Cảm ơn những cộng sự đã tin tưởng hành trình này.
Và đặc biệt cảm ơn khán giả – những người đã lấp đầy khán phòng vào tháng 12/2025, trao cho tác phẩm hơi thở đầu tiên.

[VN Below] 🎭 A FEW WORDS FROM JOHN ANDREW CUNNINGTON ON “INNER DEATH”

I’ve always been fascinated by emotions that can’t quite be spoken — the quiet, hidden ones that shape who we are.
Inner Death was born from that fascination — an attempt to touch the silence that lives beneath our daily performances, where grief, love, and hope intertwine.

I chose two clowns to tell this story. Because sometimes, only through laughter can we face our pain.
We all wear masks — not to deceive, but to protect each other from truths too raw to share.
In every stumble, every awkward gesture, every forced smile, I see something deeply human — our fragile attempt to keep going even when we’re breaking inside.

For me, Inner Death is a constant pull between raw emotion and crafted form, between the desire to be seen and the fear of exposure.
I don’t want the audience to “understand” the play — I want them to feel it.
Because the story isn’t truly happening on stage — it’s happening within you.

Tôi luôn bị hấp dẫn bởi những cảm xúc không nói được thành lời — những điều âm ỉ bên trong con người mà ta thường không cho ai thấy.
Inner Death - Tâm Tử ra đời từ chính nỗi ám ảnh đó. Nó là một nỗ lực để tôi chạm vào thứ im lặng trong tâm hồn — nơi nỗi buồn, tình yêu, sự mất mát và cả niềm hi vọng cùng tồn tại.

Tôi chọn hai chú hề để kể câu chuyện này. Bởi đôi khi, chỉ khi ta cười, ta mới dám nhìn vào nỗi đau của mình.
Chúng ta đều mang mặt nạ — không phải để dối trá, mà để bảo vệ nhau khỏi những sự thật quá trần trụi.
Tôi muốn khán giả nhìn thấy chính mình trong những cử động vụng về, trong mỗi cú ngã, trong mỗi nụ cười gượng — như cách chúng ta vẫn tiếp tục sống, dù đang tan vỡ bên trong.

Đối với tôi, Inner Death là một cuộc giằng co giữa cảm xúc thật và hình thức trình diễn, giữa mong muốn được nhìn thấy và nỗi sợ bị phơi bày.
Tôi không muốn người xem “hiểu” câu chuyện, mà chỉ cần cảm nhận nó bằng trái tim mình.
Bởi Inner Death không thật sự diễn ra trên sân khấu – nó diễn ra bên trong mỗi người.

I’ve always believed that acting is not just about techniques — voice, body, character, scene work. These are important, but what matters most is giving people the building blocks to become artists.

An artist doesn’t just embody a role. They create, they shape ideas, they bring their own stories to life. For me, the most rewarding part is one day sitting in the audience and watching students stand proudly in their own creations.

In class, John always encourages students not just to “act,” but to live the character; not just to speak lines, but to express emotion through every glance, gesture, and breath; not to shine alone, but to help the entire ensemble shine.
