Yesterday, Directory held a successful and festive opening event on Gather Town!

After the general introduction session, participants had a chance to engage with three of Directory’s artists to learn more about their work and practice: Anti-cool talked about the making of her video art “Natural Science”; Oliver from tried to beat speed-runners’ records on “Godmode Epochs”; and .nhi.le waited a good while for her popsicle to melt during her live performance!

This new platform is our attempt to experiment with a more different method of online gathering. And while many of us had a great ✨artful✨ time, some remained unsatisfied due to technical issues and internet bandwidth (which we immensely apologize for).

Nonetheless, we would like to express our gratitude to our collective of international friends and art enthusiasts for making your time celebrating this special moment with us, and to our artists, for spending their time doing these incredible workshop-styled activities!

Pavilion is coming / Launching Party Announcement

Hi folks,

Cheers to the Spooky Season 🎃👻

Long time no see, we hope you are doing well!!

ANI[MA] comes back with some exciting news about the Pavilion and a launching event to celebrate Directory’s official birth :).

The last two months of us living reclusively were dedicated to designing the Pavilion and other related tasks to make it aired on time. The website will be available for everyone across the globe to visit on November 1, 2023. We are finishing up some very last details and are preparing a launching event for everyone to come join. During this session, you will have the opportunity to learn more about Directory and listen to artists sharing their artwork. There will also be sneak peeks about our satellite programs throughout the happening of Directory 🤫.

Vậy là chúng mình đã đi đến tuần cuối cùng của khung thời gian để ứng tuyển. Trong 4 tuần qua, chúng mình không chỉ nhận được những lá đơn ứng tuyển vô cùng thú vị từ các nghệ sĩ và người viết, mà còn cả những cuộc trò chuyện bày tỏ sự quan tâm và ủng hộ cho dự án này. Chúng mình muốn bày tỏ lòng biết ơn sâu sắc nhất đến bất kỳ ai đã đồng hành cùng chúng mình trên hành trình này, dù ít hay nhiều!

Trong tuần cuối cùng này, chúng mình sẽ thường trực tổng đài để sẵn sàng hỗ trợ bạn bất cứ thời gian trong ngày nếu bạn có bất kỳ vướng mắc nào. “Tiếp nối tinh thần của chính sách “RADICAL INCLUSIVITY” (tạm dịch: AI CŨNG CHO CHƠI) của The Wrong Biennale, chúng tôi khuyến khích các nghệ sĩ/người thực hành và người viết ở bất kỳ giai đoạn nào trong sự nghiệp tham gia ứng tuyển cho trưng bày lần này.”

Đây là một dòng được trích từ website của ANI[MA], và tinh thần “AI CŨNG CHO CHƠI” được nhắc đến xuyên suốt thời gian chương trình Kêu Gọi Ứng Tuyển diễn ra. Chúng mình mong muốn tạo lập một không gian cho nghệ sĩ/người thực hành nghệ thuật và người viết dù sử dụng phương tiện gì, cũng có thể kết nối và trao đổi về thực hành của nhau.

Cho đến nay, những đơn ứng tuyển gửi cho ANI[MA] đa dạng từ các dự án nghệ thuật âm thanh, ảnh chuyển động/video art, nhiếp ảnh, hội họa, cho đến thơ, viết thử nghiệm, tiểu luận, v.v. được các bạn từ nhiều vùng địa lý khác nhau gửi đến. Team ANI[MA] rất vui vì Kêu Gọi Ứng Tuyển đã chạm đến nhiều bạn, và trân trọng từng chiếc file pdf mà chúng mình nhận được.

Các nền tảng trực tuyến mang đến muôn vàn khả dĩ, chính ANI[MA] cũng rất tò mò và mong đợi dáng hình cuối cùng của trưng bày lần này. Và tụi mình vẫn rộng mở đợi đơn từ bạn cho đến ngày 28/7/2023.

“Following The Wrong Biennale’s “RADICAL INCLUSIVITY” policy, we encourage artists/practitioners and writers at any stage of their career to submit”.
This is a line we excerpted from ANI[MA]’s website, and we mention the spirit of RADICAL INCLUSIVITY many times throughout the Open Call cycle, to remind you how much we care about diversity, and above all, to really create a space for artists/practitioners and writers, using any mediums, to connect and discuss their practices.

Up to now, the applications submitted to us range from sound projects, moving image/video art, photography, paintings, to poetry, experimental writings, essays,... from artists and writers with different geographical backgrounds. We are really astounded by how far this Open Call has reached, and appreciate every submission we have received.

Online platforms have infinite potential. And us – the ANI[MA] team, are also curious and excited to see the outcome of the show and, maybe, its impact, if any.

Only 2 weeks left (on July 28, 2023) until the Open Call for works by ANI[MA] will officially close. We are very excited to have received applications, as well as sharings about in-progress projects. Thank you for your interest in our project!

In the upcoming 2 weeks, we hope to receive more applications from you. We believe that more than an exhibition, this will be an opportunity for you to expose your works to a larger audience.

Moreover, with ANI[MA] being an online exhibition, artists will no longer have to worry about technical issues in the process of organizing and exhibiting their works.

In particular, works in the form of video art (moving images) will have the opportunity to be shown on TheWrongTV - a platform dedicated to the video live streaming of The Wrong Biennale. In 2022, TheWrongTV was presented at Center Pompidou Paris as part of the collective exhibition Réseaux-mondes.

So, if you are still hesitating about submitting an application, or worried that your work is not yet complete, then hurry up and apply! We welcome all applications, no matter what stage your works are in, as long as you can determine the projected finish date for the works. Chỉ còn 2 tuần nữa (vào ngày 28/7/2023) là lời mời kêu gọi ứng tuyển tác phẩm của ANI[MA] sẽ chính thức ‘hết hạn'. Chúng mình rất vui vì đã nhận được những lá thư ứng tuyển, cũng như những chia sẻ về những dự án còn đang bỏ ngỏ. Chúng mình cảm ơn sự quan tâm mà bạn dành cho dự án.

2 tuần cuối cùng này, chúng mình mong sẽ nhận được thêm những lá đơn ứng tuyển từ các bạn. Chúng mình tin rằng, hơn cả một triển lãm, đây sẽ là một cơ hội để các bạn thực hành nghệ thuật hay viết lách được đưa những sản phẩm của mình tới nhiều người hơn.

Hơn nữa, với bản chất của một triển lãm sẽ diễn ra trên không gian mạng, các nghệ sĩ sẽ không còn phải bận tâm nhiều tới các vấn đề về kỹ thuật trong quá trình tổ chức và triển lãm tác phẩm của mình.

Đặc biệt, các tác phẩm ở dạng video art (moving images) sẽ có cơ hội được chiếu trực tiếp trên TheWrongTV - là một nền tảng dành riêng cho việc phát trực tiếp video chuỗi hoạt động của The Wrong Biennale. Năm 2022, TheWrongTV đã có cơ hội được trình chiếu ở Centre Pompidou Paris trong khuôn khổ của triển lãm nhóm Réseaux-mondes.

Vậy nên, nếu bạn còn đang chần chừ về việc nộp đơn ứng tuyển, hay do tác phẩm chưa hoàn thiện, thì hãy cứ nhanh tay nộp đơn đi nhé! Chúng mình vẫn chào đón tất cả các đơn ứng tuyển dù đang ở trong giai đoạn nào, miễn là các nghệ sĩ/người thực hành có thể xác định được tiến độ của tác phẩm.
