Sending out a huge thank you to the VI Council on the Arts for inviting me to share some poems with this year’s Poetry Out Loud finalists.

This poem is called Future Gardens, and it honors the youth of the Virgin Islands, while putting out a call for all of us to ensure they grow well.

: BVI Literary Festival was a beautiful display of connection in culture, and a celebration of Caribbean art. I’m honored to have been invited.

Im finally sitting to sort through the photos and notes I took in my journal. This trip was everything and then some. Connecting with writers throughout the diaspora was a beautiful experience.

The works I got to experience were mesmerizing. I left Tortola feeling grounded and reinvigorated. I’m determined to keep growing, and im excited about all the new people I get to support along the way ☺️
