Well guys, it's time to pass the torch. We were trying to find some extra pictures from the last two epic night of karaoke in the Courtney and Angela era, but we had way too much fun being there to take pictures. I can't say with enough enthusiasm to really express my feelings, how much this chapter has meant to me. Never in a million years would I think I'd be in charge of something so cool while holding a microphone in my hand (that got me in trouble a few times π
). This gig taught me how to live with courage, patience, vulnerability, comedy, encouragement.... did I mention patience? And I owe it all to my soul sister Courtney. I did not agree to host karaoke, but she insisted.
Never did I imagine people would call us queens. We were queens of shenanigans. We thoroughly enjoyed telling you to go away and leave us alone. Even more, we enjoyed hyping you up and helping you find your voice. I'll always refer to our regulars as my karaoke babies because I got to watch you go from choke to powerhouse. We got to see you thrive in theme nights in ways you didn't know you could. We got to be sassy and hilarious (imho). We got to have PRIDE nights and fundraisers and uplift the community with silliness and rage.
Karaoke Club is and has always been an independent gig that doesn't belong to any establishment. Karaoke does not belong to one place on island, no matter the history. We ran with freedom to run our show however we desired, and you LOVED it. Our visitors came back to see us every vacation. And though some nights were more stressful than others, you still told us how much you loved what we did, and we will never forget that.
Things might not have gone the way we wanted to at the end of our longest run, but it lead to two of the most fun evenings I've ever experienced. I will always remember this chapter ending on a high note at Lovango Rum Bar and Beach Bar. Thank you for allowing me to go out with a bang!
