Our islands ๐Ÿ๏ธdeserve care that is ready on the first call.

At the UVI Medical Simulation Center, future paramedics, nurses and hospital teams practice high-stakes care on realistic patient simulators before they ever reach a real patient. Every compression, every airway and every team decision gets sharper here, so our communities get safer everywhere.

As the first and only medical simulation center in the U.S. Virgin Islands, we offer ~22,000 square feet of hands-on training space built to grow our own healthcare heroes.

๐Ÿšจโค๏ธ Practice Makes Prepared! โค๏ธ๐Ÿšจ

As part of National Healthcare Simulation Week 2026, the UVI Medical Simulation Center, in collaboration with UVI Albert A. Sheen (AAS) Campus Security, Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Virgin Islands EMS Dispatch, and our campus partners, conducted a realistic mock CPR emergency drill on campus this Wednesday.

These hands-on exercises are more than just practice. They are an opportunity to test our emergency response systems, strengthen coordination among responders, and identify ways to enhance safety for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

By working side-by-side with our local EMS professionals, we are ensuring that when a real emergency occurs, responders can act confidently, efficiently, and without hesitation. Every drill helps validate our emergency plans, improve communication, and reinforce the skills needed to save lives.

๐Ÿ‘ A huge thank you to all participants, observers, and community partners who helped make this exercise a success. Your commitment to preparedness helps create a safer campus and a stronger Virgin Islands community.

At UVI, we don't wait for an emergency to find out if our plans work. We train, test, improve, and prepare.

๐Ÿ“ธ Check out our photos and highlights from the drill!

๐Ÿš‘โœจ Healthcare Simulation Week is off to an inspiring start!

As part of this year's "Sim Found Me" theme, AP Biology students at St. Croix Educational Complex High School got a hands-on introduction to the exciting world of healthcare simulation during Simulation 101: A Day in the Life of a Simulation Operations Specialist.

Students explored advanced simulation technology, interacted with infant and child patient simulators, and discovered how STEM, innovation, and healthcare converge to prepare future healthcare professionals for real-world patient care.

Investing in workforce development starts with exposing students to emerging career pathways. Today's experience highlighted opportunities in healthcare, technology, engineering, and education while inspiring the next generation of problem-solvers and healthcare innovators.

A sincere thank you to the students, teachers, and staff for welcoming the UVI Medical Simulation Center. We loved sharing how simulation can transform learning and open doors to future careers. ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŽ“

Today, August 31, we recognize International Overdose Awareness Day and stand together to remember those we have lost, support individuals and families affected by overdose, and promote life-saving action.

Knowing the signs of an overdoseโ€”unresponsiveness, slow or stopped breathing, and pinpoint pupilsโ€”can save a life. If you suspect an overdose, call 911 immediately.

Join the UVI Medical Simulation Center in building a safer, better-prepared community. Together, we can save lives.
