Our Band
949 Band is a group of very talented musicians and singers originally coming together in their church and a local live civic music show. Geoffrey White has been playing professionally with bands since he was in high school, with extensive experience in keyboards, drums and vocals. Brenda Imel plays bass, guitar and sings, and is the band's organizer. Brenda’s musical training was at SOCJC/OKC performing in choir and show choir on scholarship before forming the group “Crossover,” who is a member of the Oklahoma Opry Hall of fame. Brenda is the mother of Matt Cowell, lead singer/lead guitar player for 949. He has performed professionally since college in Oklahoma and Texas after attending the Academy of Contempory Music/OKC. Matt was a second round contestant on “The Voice.” Jessica Brodmerkel is a long time friend of the other three members with formal training at UCO/Edmond where she played in the orchestra on a violin scholarship. She plays drums, fiddle and sings. Each of the members of 949 Band brings their own special talent and love of certain types of music to the band. Brenda feels that is why their music is so eclectic. In one performance you could hear "Uptown Funk' by Bruno Mars, "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran, "Long White Cadillac" by Dwight Yokum, "Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison and "At Last" by Etta James. From Top-40 Pop to Country and back to Classic Rock, we are commensurate professional band that knows how to entertain your guests. Call/text Brenda 405-503-1532 or email at [email protected]
