After six weeks, countless tiny brushstrokes, a few moments of doubt, and a lot of learning, “Blush Hour” is finally finished.

Inspired by my California backyard at sunset, this painting became less about capturing a place exactly as it is and more about capturing how it feels—the warm glow, the flowers, the winding path, and that magical hour when everything seems to…blush.

And considering this is only my fourth painting, on my own, I’m feeling pretty grateful for the journey this project challenged me with.

It’s been over a month now that I have been working on the same garden painting 😩

I think I finally figured out what is delaying the process 🤣💕🐈🐈‍⬛

Painting has always intimidated me; one of the reasons I was determined to start! We always see the beautiful finale - but rarely the middle “ugly” part.

So here is me sharing that obnoxious teenage stage of my current project. Let whatever intimidates you, be the reason to start.

My creative director stole my chair, so I took that as approval to keep going. 🐾🎨

This piece started with inspiration from my own backyard… but somewhere along the way it became something softer, dreamier, and a little more me.

What started as “maybe I’ll try painting” has turned into one of the most unexpected joys of this season of my life.

Proof that passion doesn’t care when you start. Only that you do. ✨

Back at the easel after a week away, picking up where I left off with a painting inspired by one of my favorite places—our own backyard. 🌿✨

It’s funny how you can walk past something a hundred times, then sit down to paint it and suddenly notice a so many details you’ve never really seen.

Starting this art journey at 50, as an empty nester, wasn’t about slowing down for me. It’s been the opposite. It’s sparked energy, curiosity, creativity, and this little voice that keeps asking what else am I capable of?

And honestly? I kind of love that 🥰

From Yucaipa to Chico to Monterey and back… this week was full of inspiration. 💙

Beautiful views, unexpected sketch ideas, and so many moments that made me want to create instead of just take a picture.

I’m still a beginner, but I’m loving how art is changing the way I see things.

Motherhood feels a lot like painting… imperfect, emotional, messy, beautiful — and somehow it all comes together in the end.

Today I’m celebrating the women who love deeply, create constantly, and help everyone around them bloom. Happy Mother’s Day 💕🦋🎨🖌️

BlushLands is becoming my way of sharing this unexpected art journey I started at 50 — learning as I go, finding my style, and seeing California landscapes differently through paint.

This piece is inspired by my own backyard and those soft sunset moments that make everything glow for a few minutes. 🌅

After finishing my last painting, I’m starting the next one… and this part always feels a little chaotic.

Working from my own backyard this time, trying to simplify it into something that fits my style — deciding what to keep and what to leave out.

Right now it feels a little messy… but I’m learning that’s usually where something good starts.

Let’s see where this one goes.
