The Mahoning Valley Irish Festival is currently seeking food vendors for our 5th Annual Festival on August 15 & 16 at St. Luke’s in Boardman!

This family-friendly celebration of Irish culture features live music, Irish dance performances, Celtic vendors, authentic Irish food, community fellowship, and plenty of Irish craic throughout the weekend.

We’re especially interested in:

🇺🇸 June 6, 1944 🇺🇸

Before dawn broke over the beaches of Normandy, thousands of young men climbed into landing craft and aircraft knowing they might never come home.

Many were barely more than boys.

They left behind mothers and fathers, wives and sweethearts, children they hoped to see again, and dreams that would never be realized.

Some would survive the day.

Many would not.

Today, 82 years later, we remember their courage, their sacrifice, and the unimaginable price paid for freedom.

D-Day was not just a military operation. It was a moment when ordinary people were called upon to do extraordinary things for a cause greater than themselves.

As we gather with family and friends, celebrate our heritage, and enjoy the freedoms we often take for granted, may we never forget those who stormed the beaches, flew into the darkness, and gave everything so future generations could live free.

On this anniversary of D-Day, we pause to remember.

We honor the fallen.

We thank the survivors.

And we pledge that their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Not for barbecues.
Not for sales.
Not for the long weekend.

We pause to remember.
Memorial Day is about honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country — those who never made it home, whose sacrifice purchased freedoms many of us too easily take for granted.

“In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row…”

The poppy remains one of the most powerful symbols of remembrance, sacrifice, and the enduring cost of freedom. Today, we honor every fallen hero and every Gold Star family carrying that loss forward.

As an Irish community rooted deeply in tradition, family, faith, and pride in heritage, we understand the importance of remembering those who came before us and those who sacrificed for something greater than themselves.

May we never forget that freedom is never free.

From all of us at the Mahoning Valley Irish Festival, we wish you a meaningful and reflective Memorial Day. Please take a moment today to remember the fallen and honor their memory. 🇺🇸☘️

To all the moms, grandmas, aunties, bonus moms, and the women who love fiercely like mothers every single day — today we celebrate YOU. 💚

Thank you for the traditions you pass down, the strength you carry, the hugs that heal everything, and the memories you create that become part of our family stories forever.

From teaching little feet to dance, to singing along to Irish music, sharing recipes, laughter, love, and a little Irish stubbornness along the way… mothers are truly the heart of every family and every community.

As we continue counting down to another unforgettable Mahoning Valley Irish Festival on
August 15 & 16, we’re especially grateful for the generations of strong women who help keep Irish culture, music, dance, family, and community alive right here in the Mahoning Valley. ☘️
