If you would like to participate in these recitals, please reach out! They count as volunteer hours if you need to fulfill them and it’s a great way to practice confidence!

Salon recitals are back! 🎶

Students from the studios of Gretchen Dekker, Daniel Lee, James Nackley and Kim Finnigan performed at the Fitz Farm Community Center.

We heard songs of the ocean, dances and we even had a sing along! Congratulations to all the students who performed!

True for singing, any other instrument, and anything else in life. Keep it in mind next time you get so frustrated with your progress. Failure leads to progress! Be kind to yourself ❤️

The key to good guitar playing is failing regularly 🎸🤘

So true!! Our brains can be our worst enemy if we let it!! Just keep singing and playing ❤️

Play anyway, play always 🤷‍♂️🎸

Snagged some Legos from my friend’s kid to demonstrate how notes are subdivided. Some of us just do better with visuals! I’m always searching for or thinking of creative ways to make it click!

Bahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Yeah, sorry, DEFINITELY a soprano!

I came across the app “Simply Sing” and decided to check it out to see if it would be a good tool for practice sessions in between lessons. So… as you can see, we were off to a bad start! I do still have lingering congestion from a cold, but I’ve tried this 3 or 4 times and it still says I’m an alto! That being said, once you get into the singing sessions, it does give good advice and is a more fun and engaging way to practice. So I think it would be worth it as a supplemental tool. But seriously, every song the feedback would say “let’s see if this is in the best key for you.” Uh, no it’s not. Ya labeled me an alto and I can’t reach those notes comfortably!

So yeah, it’s relatively inexpensive, but you pay per year. I did the free 7 day trial. If you try it, let me know what range you get and what you really are!!

Today was my little intern’s last day in the studio. It appears she hasn’t learned much… 😹

Lucky heads to her furever home on Friday morning. Thank you to all my students for helping to show her happiness and love!! And thanks to Iridescence Cares for allowing me to care for her and for finding her a wonderful new home! Check the comments for her 2 day old baby picture! 😻
