I'm an anthrophobic introvert with a penchant for wandering about in the woods. I look at all of this life as an adventure, and most of my creations seek to capture and reflect the beauty of the little moments in this great wide world around me💚

Took me a while to figure out what this little guy was, I’m pretty sure he’s a Western Redback Salamander (despite the name they also come in colors ranging from red & orange, to yellow, olive green, and tan). He was happy to hang out on my warm hand long enough to pose for pictures before I set him down & he safely scampered off 🦎🌲🍄🍄‍🟫

Have you ever seen a jelly tooth mushroom? I certainly hadn’t until Harper hollered that she wanted to show me something cool she found while they were exploring the treeline around camp. We observed that it was translucent and had a squishy texture and spines underneath that made it look like a bit like a cat tongue. Spines are a hallmark of edible mushrooms but we had to wait until we got to service to look it up, apparently they are indeed edible although rather bland and have a gummy texture, so it’s recommended to candy them.
Alas, we didn’t harvest any more than the one I cut to investigate, so we dint get to experience mushroom candy, but if we ever see them again I’ll try it and report back.
Super cool find though thanks to my bonus-mini💕💕💕

*Vulnerable post*
Confession time; classes aren’t going well.
I knew before we left for deer camp that I was staring down the barrel of it,
I have had very little participation & I’m out of money to pour into it.
Surely a combination of the climate of the world right now, and poor planning and ex*****on on my part.
I am not a business woman. I really don’t run anything very well, I’ve been running the race of life absolutely flying by the seat of my pants since the beginning.
I ought to have a degree in overestimating myself at this point, but I haven’t found a college that offers those.
In any case, Wander Bear Studio will be shifting to seasonal window painting and possibly showcasing some of my art, should I find the time to make any.
In my brief time on Mainstreet, I have found wonderful neighbors and a deeper love for this town than I really thought I’d find. It has been great fun to occupy this space, and I am terribly grateful for having been given the opportunity at all.
Thank you to anyone who has supported me in any way shape or form. It means the world 💕

We’re back and mostly recovered!
Oh deer camp❤️ Every year our little family runs off to the woods for a bit; Babe gets to hunt for freezer filler and hang out with his raucous cousins, and I get to go completely feral, run off up every embankment or down any canyon I please, looking for mushrooms and documenting the wildlife. Every year we come home damp, tuckered out, and coated in woodsmoke, with new memories and our hearts absolutely full. I am so grateful to be included in this awesome tradition and my Darlin’s amazing family.
I took about a billion photos, so I’ll probably be sharing them with you all a few at a time for the foreseeable future. Hope you like mushrooms and critters as much as I do 💕🍄🌲🐿️🦝🐍🦎🦌🐺🦇🐌🪱🦫🦨🕷️🐦‍⬛
