Mel of the Mountains Brain tanning deer hides is my passion and I love to teach others this valuable skill.

The deer hides I work with have been ethically taken by local hunters who feed their families with the deer meat and I'm lucky enough to carry on the legacy of each deer by turning it into a long lasting fabric that can used to make clothing, shoes, bags, tipis and other goods.

My little truck "bedroom" has everything I need in it. I even rode out Hurricane Helene in it for 2 nights at a truck stop in Kentucky and never got out until the storm had passed.

Driving with Tourettes might seem challenging, but when I focus on a task while using my hands, I WILL NOT mess up. Melonie used to own a bakery, so we took this opportunity to demonstrate what I mean by not messing up while using my hands and focusing. It really is hard to explain how safe of a driver I am, but I hope this video can help understand a bit better.
