Hello anyone who is interested in art in some capacity. This forum talks about art history of different cultures. This forum is also a welcomed place to give feedback, ask questions or make comments on the posts you will read here. I ask that everyone keep their comments kind, considerate non-offensive. This is a friendly atmosphere without any abusive language. We are here to enjoy these posts, so let's get started, shall we?!
The title of this post is--- 'People of Color Artistic Talents Coming to Age'.
A major exhibition called two centuries of Black American art opened in 1976 in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) for the American bicentennial year. Atlanta's high museum of Art, the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts and the Brooklyn Museum are three major U.S. art institutions following the premiere at LACMA that was a pioneering exhibition being the first comprehensive survey of African art. My thoughts in summarizing this statement... Black art has been around a long time, but now it is being discussed and recognized as the beauty as it is. The work of Black Artists whose contributions to American art was presented by the exhibition's artist and curator of art is historian David Driskell (1931-2020). Between 1750 to 1950 over 200 works made by 63 artists sought to acknowledge these works had been to a great degree been neglected. The championing of Black Artists and their subjects, Two Centuries of Black American Art is a tribute from the upcoming exhibition by portrayed envisioned by LACMA. Co-curators Christine Y. Kim and Liz Andrews want to pay reverence to Driskell's 1976 exhibition "Black American" portraits in hoping to celebrate Black love, abundance, family, self-possession along with self-expression instead of the history that demonizes, have inappropriate fetishes or neglects Blackness. Summarizing that there are other races who desire to give our Black artists their due.
Are there any comments of thoughts about this small piece of content... let me know... let's discuss this, shall we? Who agrees, who disagrees, why? I would be interested in your thoughts.
There is much more to this piece, but I figure that a little info at a time can go a long way. Alright, any input?
Remember: we bless others as God blesses us! "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ" --- Ephesians 1:3.
Enjoy... until next time! 🤓
