This is the type of people you want around at your special events! The kind who hold an open hand approach to getting things done and who Know 👏 There 👏 Worth 👏
There is a confidence that can’t be persuaded when you know who you are. That confidence equals peace and calm in the moments it is needed most and it’s such a great reminder to anyone who needs it that these are celebrations, meant to be enjoyed. This advice is so needed for new business owners, like myself, and those who have forgotten to embrace the fun! Vendors should consider themselves fortunate to work alongside any team that puts this much heart and value into the events that are worked on together!
Hey friends and new faces! Nice to meet you! My husband and I started a company called 189Blooms! The numbers represent our children’s birthday months! We wanted to throw a few facts at you about starting a new business/small business, and things that we’ve learned!
#1 YOUR WORTH. Biggest lesson. Took awhile to price in a way that was appropriate! Overworking to make less than took a toll that first year of understanding that the floral market is what it is and that we’re still cheaper then most! But took us a while to get here to price how we do! Lol! And I mean those who know me, your paying for FLOWERS, you get what you pay for. I quote off your Inspo! ( And I’ll never over stop over buying and bringing extras to your event to make it pop lol)
#2 IT IS COMPETITIVE! Of course we knew that, but I thought like a friendly competitiveness , NOPE, it’s like an evil competition. Lol unfortunately the wedding industry can be nasty. I’ve had to tune out the attacks and spies and just be myself no matter what. I don’t let it deter me, it just makes me be aware of who to work with. There’s been a few nasty snakes out there who try to get me down! But it’s ok because it has allowed me to work and ask questions with my brides on who’s with them for their day which allows me to make a decision if I want to create for them.
#3 YES, YOU ARE ALLOWED TO SAY NO. As stated above, I’ve been through a lot of vendors and people and spaces even and now I have to ask specific questions on who other vendors are because I’ve just learned there’s some super nasty people. I will not bash anyone but I just let my clients know that I cant design for them. Your reputation and name is on the line, protect yourself
#4 NOT EVERYONE WILL GO WITH YOU! I understand!! We all vibe differently! We all bring something different to the table! I always say it’s like buying art. You will see those pictures forever with flowers! Make sure you love the artist! There is plenty of work to go around and I just would rather have my clients have PEACE with their day, not stress!
#5 BE PREPARED for anything! Go in ready for everything and anything! I tell my team to not go into a space expecting help from anyone. It’s not their job, it’s ours! We bring candles we light, we make a mess, we sweep, we’re short on time, better hurry up lol! It’s our responsibility and no one else! And be a team in it. Don’t be rude! Just enjoy the day setting up and make the vibes pleasurable for all!
#6 JUST BE KIND AND HAVE FUN. Come on guys, it’s a day of celebration! Make it fun! Make it enjoyable! You hire me, you get a best friend for the time leading up to the day! Be approachable and always available! I Genuinely love this industry, and I just am so honored to be in it with you!! Hang out with all the vendors, be a happy hand to help them out, don’t be prideful and show up ready to get the day done for our people!!
That’s all for now! Love you guys💋
