My older brother, Danny, died early this morning. I don't think most people realize how much he inspired me to become a songwriter. He taught himself to play guitar. When I expressed interest he allowed me to play his guitar and loaned me a beginner's book. And, when he put a Robert Burns' poem to music I was so impressed. I had written poems but hadn't tried to write songs. Soon I was writing songs frequently. Early on most of my songs amounted to therapy. Eventually I was able to write some decent songs, overcome stage fright, start a songwriter association, produce and host a community TV show featuring songwriters, some local and some from other states and even other countries. And, I don't know if any of that would have happened without my big brother, Danny's help. Thank you, Danny. I will miss you so very much.
