Quick review right out of the box for the new Barbie Signature Masters of the Universe movie release dolls: He-man and Teela
While I did not purchase as any sort of die hard MoTU fan, I *do* love my battle ready and superhero body offerings. One of these days, I will assemble an epic battle across my wonder woman, DC, now MoTU and custom Badass Barbies.
But for now: some first impressions!
HE MAN:
I LOVE the buff ken body, and having the Looks version - this release is 90% perfect with the exception that this MoTU sculpt does not have the chest articulation. However, it works with his excellent outfit and doesnt prevent him from reaching his sword when in its sheath on his back (a very cool detail) due to retaining the upper arm rotation (this sadly is untrue for Teela).
The barbarian style costume is excellent, surprisingly a set i see my self going to for and character customs.
However, Hemans stand is just silly and does not fit. I have seen previous buff/husky ken stand clips and this one doesnt have that....so the stand doesnt fit his waist or his thigh. The stand situation is similarly bad for Teela, as it is too short to accommodate her body in boots on the black platform.
TEELA:
I am not at all familiar with the actress this mold is representing, but her face and lovely auburn haircolor is high quality and well rooted.
Teela's costume is well made, interesting and has nice armor accessories layered on top. She unfortunately cannot securely hold her shorter sword like her counterpart can, nor can she reach behind her head (no upper arm rotation) or have flat feet (no ankle rotation) - but seems on par with the supporting wonder woman cast style dolls in that way.
Overall, great in box presentation and face sculpts, outfits, and useful additions for doll customizers out there.
