New Pottery Studio ! Menuez's Mud Pottery is still dreaming and planning our new pottery studio to start construction in Spring 2015. We have had a home based business for 7 yrs now, with Matt working out of a small shed with no heat or running water. An additional building has been purchased,...

Letting our favorite people know..we received the email from Chase Mission Main Street Grants. We did NOT get the grant. Yet, it is so heartwarming to remember the intense support given by you during our attempt! Plan "B"..we are thinking a Kickstarter? More info to come once we can research it a bit more...

It's January 17th...still watching and hoping to hear from Mission Main Street Grants regarding a possible grant to build our green pottery studio. So hoping to hear from them before the end of January, but if not, we have another plan in mind :) Will keep all our friends up to date!

We reached our goal at @ 10:45 last night! 78 votes in ONE day! You friends ( and friends of friends, who we hope are now OUR friends!) are AWESOME!
Now our application goes before a panel of judges, and we will be notified in January if we are one of the lucky 20 to be given the grant :)

They asked...
"What would a $150,000 grant mean to your business and how will you utilize the funds? Please be as specific as possible. "

Our answer...
Our ultimate goal is to build a GREEN pottery studio! Our current location is not heated in the winter, and sorely limits production time. A large building with areas for throwing, glazing, and kiln firing all together would be ideal. Solar panel electricity, free-standing water source, energy-efficient digital kilns (electric and gas, and maybe a wood-fired kiln also) a pug mill to recycle used clay, high quality pottery wheels, just to name a few. A dedicated showroom to display and sell our wares, that would be separate from the pottery dust flying around! Large, business signage / bill boards, and advertising to make us more noticeable.
We are approached often to donate pottery pieces for individual fund raisers that help people in need. The frustrating part is not having the space, time and equipment to produce all that is requested! To have the resources to meet these needs and be able to offer to other local potters the venue to participate also is our grand dream.
As we age, we hope to use this business as a full-time endeavor for us and interested friends and acquaintances who would love to work with us as sub-contractors. Creating retail pieces and selling wholesale to other local businesses (We already sell to Amish Country Essentials in Berlin) has such economic growth potential for all involved.

So...PLEASE PLEASE give us a vote on the attached website, and please share on your own page to help get our word out! Our friends and family are the BEST!

The deadline to vote is approaching, and we are only 70 votes shy of the goal! The dream to build a Green Pottery Studio (Solar panel electricity, free-standing water source, energy-efficient digital kilns (electric and gas, and maybe a wood-fired kiln also) a pug mill to recycle used clay, high quality pottery wheels, just to name a few) is within reach! Please, friends and fellow pottery-lovers...two clicks is all it takes! And to those that have helped us get this far
