Did you know 24 October is World Polio Day? 🌍

For many of us, polio may feel like something from the history books; but it’s still affecting children today.

Since 1985, Rotary has helped protect more than 3 billion children through vaccination. Alongside our partners, we’ve helped reduce polio cases by 99.9%. But we still have more to do.

There’s no cure for polio, but we can prevent it. And being this close to ending it is every reason to keep going.

What will you do to help us End Polio Now?

October is clearly a good month for beginnings — the Rotary Club for Global Action and I both have birthdays!

On Tuesday, we celebrated our club’s sixth birthday, and there’s so much to be proud of.

Tackling hunger, supporting literacy, building international service partnerships and bringing people together across countries and cultures — our members have packed plenty into those six years!

For me, one of the best things about this club is the friendships behind the service. Different countries, different experiences, and a shared determination to do something useful together.

With World Polio Day coming up on 24 October, it’s also a reminder of the wider Rotary family we’re part of and what we can achieve together.

It’s a privilege to serve as President. Thank you to everyone who has helped shape our club and make things happen.

Happy sixth birthday, RCGA! Here’s to the next chapter!

A big welcome to Karl Uzcategui, our newest member of the Rotary Club for Global Action! 🌍

Joining us from Connecticut, USA, Karl brings 17 years of service through Kiwanis, including district leadership, and six years with the Rotaract Club of No Borders, where he served as President and Treasurer.

His involvement in Rotary’s peace work and the Rotary LGBT+ Fellowship reflects his passion for bringing people together and helping them feel they belong—something we value deeply in our global club.

Karl also works in culture and engagement and is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership.
Beyond that impressive experience, he’s a fantastic human being, and we’re delighted he has chosen to continue his service journey with us.

Welcome, Karl! We look forward to getting to know you, learning from you and making a difference together.

💧 UPDATE ON THE ROTARY CLUB FOR GLOBAL ACTION “DLO SÉ LA VI” WATER PROJECT IN DUMAS, HAITI 🇭🇹
Exciting news: drilling is happening as we speak in Dumas, Haiti!

This is an important step toward installing the water pump that our Rotary community and supporters came together to fund.
Once operational, this water project will help:
- Address environmental challenges
- Improve living conditions for the people of Dumas
- Increase soil fertility
- Increase crop yields per hectare
- Increase income for local farmers and families
- Make fodder and harvest residue more readily available for livestock
- Help families better meet the educational needs of their children.

We will continue to keep you updated on the progress of the project and share its impact on the Dumas community.
In the meantime, on behalf of the Rotary Club for Global Action and the Dumas community, THANK YOU to everyone who donated, supported, shared, and believed in this project.
The drilling has begun. Dlo Sé La Vi — Water Is Life! 💧🇭🇹
