Earlier this summer, the 1951 Nash Airflyte that sits in front of our building was struck by another vehicle. The damage was significant, but if there is one thing we know about this car, it's that it was built with a little resilience in its DNA.

When the Nash Airflyte was introduced, its innovative unitized construction welded the body and frame together into one solid structure. This helped make these cars known for their strength and rigidity.

Our Nash has been through a lot. But while it may look a little worse for the wear right now, we do have plans to restore this piece of automotive history and bring it back to its former glory.

While we don't have any updates on our Nash that was damaged in last month's hit-and-run, we figured we'd share a little piece of Nash history instead.

As it turns out, it looks like getting into scrapes and collecting battle scars is just part of being a Nash.

In 1951, Ebenezer "Slick" Smith drove this Nash Ambassador at North Wilkesboro Speedway. His day ended with a crash midway through the race, but he was still credited with a 20th-place finish out of 26 drivers.

If there's one thing we've learned about Nash vehicles, it's that they may take a hit, but they always make for a good story!

We have additional footage from across the street that provides another view of the vehicle involved in Sunday’s hit-and-run crash at The Nash.

An SUV traveling down Liberty Street failed to stop at the dead end, crashed through the guard rail, and struck the historic 1951 Nash Airflyte displayed in front of the building. The driver then fled the scene.

We are offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the individual responsible. All tips will remain anonymous.
