Honoring the founding fathers of the Winston-Salem Community Band on this Father's Day: Robert Shepherd and my dad, Robert Clark. Formed in 1978 and originally called the Urban Arts Community Band, the band went through a lot of changes but one thing remained constant: Bob Clark. He conducted the band from late 1978 until the COVID epidemic forced him to stop in 2020. My dad didn't live to see the band get back together again. But he would be so happy to know that it's still going. He would be especially happy to know that his former student, James Daugherty, is the current conductor.

Happy Father's Day to all the awesome dads, especially the musical ones!

There was a great audience, but as you can see, there's plenty of room for more people. So bring a friend to the next outdoor concert on Sunday, July 12 at 6:30 pm in the Miller Park Amphitheater!
