To honor the contribution of Allan Affeldt and Tina Mion in transforming a significant piece of architectural history and leading the way for the Winslow Society of Artists, the museum in the historic depot behind La Posada will be named Affeldt Mion Museum. If you’d like to keep up with the exciting things happening (like the opening of the Hubbell-Joe Rug exhibit), follow their new page, and subscribe to their email list!

The world’s largest single-loom Navajo Rug will soon be on permanent display at the Affeldt Mion Museum. The rug, commissioned by Lorenzo Hubbell Jr. in 1932 to promote his Winslow trading post and woven by Navajo artist Julia Joe, returned to Winslow after a fifty-year absence thanks to Allan Affeldt and Tina Mion. Displaying a rug of this size and importance has taken years of planning but is nearly complete.
