Well… I didn’t expect the Luna moths to win by such a landslide. 😂

So now we have one final question before I start planning July’s workshops:

Would you rather have:

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how talented everyone was yesterday?! 🤩

Seriously, I was blown away by the creativity around the table. One of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing a group start with the same supplies and end up with completely different pieces that reflect their own style.

Thank you to everyone who spent their afternoon creating with me and helping make my first glass dome workshop such a success. ❤️

And yes, on the drive home I was already planning the next class. The July shadowbox workshop is already taking shape and I’d love your input. If you were signing up would you rather create a Luna moth shadowbox, a blue Morpho butterfly shadowbox or have the option to choose from when registering?

Hi, I’m Dominika. 👋

Artist, workshop instructor, sound practitioner, professional collector of random treasures and someone who somehow always has AT LEAST three projects going at the same time.

Let’s be honest. Most people don’t wake up and think, “You know what my birthday party needs? Butterflies, crystals, bones and a little bit of whimsy.” But after years of creating art and now teaching workshops, I’ve learned there are a lot more weird art lovers out there than people realize. If you’ve ever looked at one of my pieces and thought, “I wish I knew how to make something like that,” now you can.

I offer private workshops where I bring everything needed to create your own crystal suncatcher, butterfly shadowbox, glass terrarium, mixed media art piece or other beautifully unusual creation. Whether you’re completely new to crafting or have years of experience, these workshops are designed to be approachable, fun, and fully guided from start to finish. No artistic background required. No pressure to be perfect. Just a chance to try something different and make something uniquely yours.

These workshops are perfect for birthdays, bachelorette parties, girls’ nights, retreats, family gatherings, team-building events, creative get-togethers or anyone looking for something a little more memorable than the usual dinner plans.

One of my favorite parts of teaching is watching people walk in saying, “I’m not creative,” and leave a few hours later carrying a piece they can’t stop showing off.

I’m based in Northern Nevada, but I travel and offer private bookings nationwide. Whether you’re looking for a small, intimate gathering or a larger group experience, I’d love to help create something special for your event. Five years ago, I was sitting at my kitchen table figuring things out as I went, hoping someone, anyone, would see value in the things I made. Now I’m wrapping up a piece that will be submitted to the Nevada State Fair. This doesn’t mean I’ve “made it.” It doesn’t mean every show sells out, every application gets accepted or every idea works. But it does mean I’ve spent years showing up, learning new skills, experimenting, failing, trying again and slowly pushing my work further than I ever thought possible.

For this piece, I wanted to create something that felt like Nevada to me. The layered mountains. The warm desert colors. Monarch butterflies and moths. The vibrant and neutral dried florals. The antique framing. The hand-carved metal sun. Even the coyote jawbones tucked into the arrangement. Every part of it pulls from the landscapes, wildlife, colors and history that have surrounded me while building this business. Whether it ends up hung up on someone’s wall or not, I’m proud of what it represents:

Years of growth.
Years of learning.
Years of becoming the artist I hoped I could be.

The amount of detail packed into these pieces scratches that hidden part of my brain in the best way possible.

So incredibly proud of .elkonv for putting on their first Words & Wildflower market yesterday! The weather held out and they put together such a well rounded and fun event!!

We even got to snag a picture with some of the amazing vendors that attended and are part of The Lace Collective! So blessed to be surrounded by such amazing artists/makers/boss babes and most importantly friends 🤍
