🌧 Tonight’s show in Front Royal, Virginia, in conjunction with the Blue Ridge Arts Council, has been postponed due to weather. 🌧
As for the band: we’ll be holding an indoor rehearsal tonight instead, so that we’ll be prepped for the next time the weather cooperates! Stay tuned and we’re looking forward to seeing you all later!

"Frank has been playing drums for over 50 years. He has played in over 30 states, including Alaska and Hawaii, and has also been overseas and played in both Germany and Japan. He has played in bands that have opened for such notable acts such as B.B King, Redbone, The Drifters, Steppenwolf, Delbert McClinton, and Leon Russell. He moved to Virginia from the Monterey bay area of California a little over 5 years ago."
Frank not only holds down the grooves for Jumptown from the set, but he also adds vocal harmonies in on several tunes, and may just surprise you by pulling lead vocals on some others as well!
Now, we're pleased to introduce another one of our newest members, bassist Tim Grant!
"Tim began playing in school band and garage bands in his teenage years in the late 80's early 90's. He earned a bachelors in music education from Radford University in 1995. He came back home to the Front Royal, Virginia area to teach and play music. As a multi instrumentalist, Tim played bass and guitar during and after college ranging from punk, folk, rock, and jam bands to bebop, swing, and big band era music. He founded The Intrepid Jazz Trio in 2000 with saxophonist and educator Ed St. John. IJT played wineries, restaurants, and festivals throughout the northern Shenandoah valley. During that time, Tim was also freelancing on bass with local jazz musicians and bands such as Jump Alley and Charles Barone Remember When Orchestra. He can be found on recordings created throughout the area, including Mark "T" Tobolsky, Chatham Street, Charles Barone's "Remember When Orchestra," as well as many other singer song writer demos and recordings. For nearly 30 years, Tim has performed in front of audiences large and small ranging from bars, wineries, and coffee houses to large outdoor music festivals. Always approachable and friendly, Tim loves to talk about music, guitars, and family. He loves to tinker with his equipment, modifying it to get the best possible tone to fit the needs of the music. With Jumptown, Tim favors the classic pairing of his trusty old Fender Jazz bass and Gallien-Krueger amplification."
Tim always brings a great feel and groove to our tunes, you'll be impressed with his ability when you see him at our next show!
Next up is guitarist, Mike Kropotkin!
"Mike’s been playing guitar for a few decades in the New York and DC areas in a variety of rock, blues, and jam bands. His early influences include the Allman Brothers, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and other rock, blues and fusion icons. Mike is really enjoying playing blues and R&B with Jumptown and their killer horn section!"
Mike is a great player, talented soloist, and looks forward to engaging future audiences!
Meet another one of our newest members, the talented James Looney on trumpet!
"James Looney is a trumpet player originating from Charlottesville, Virginia. From a young age, James quickly developed a love for the horn and showed a strong appreciation for jazz and rock music. Most notably, he studied under Disco Risque’s Ryan Calonder, Craig Fraedrich of the Army Blues, Chuck Seipp, Robert Larson, and Luis Hernandez. James completed a dual degree in trumpet performance and jazz studies at Shenandoah University in 2020. While attending Shenandoah University, James performed with a multitude of ensembles including the jazz ensemble, little big band, jazz combos, wind ensemble, the John Kirby ensemble, and various chamber ensembles. In addition to playing trumpet, James sings and plays guitar and can be heard performing regularly around the DelMarVa area."
James shows off a strong ability as both an improviser and a lead player, a special mix of qualities from any brass player. Come see him soon at one of our future gigs!
Meet our saxophonist, Joel Cosner!
"Joel started playing saxophone at the age of 11 at Wilbur Pence Middle School, and graduated from Turner Ashby High School in 2007. During his time in high school, he was a member of both All State Band and All State Choir ensembles, along with several district and area honor bands, and was a lead role in his Senior year musical. While at JMU, he studied with David Pope, Chuck Dotas, Bob Hallahan, Stephen Bolstad, in addition to several others.
Joel has extensive performance and teaching experience in many different music genres. Along with Jumptown, he is also a member of the funk band EDP (Everyday People) out of Harrisonburg, VA, and Jump Alley, a retro swing band based in the northern Shenandoah Valley. In addition, he is the Director of Bands at Sherando High School. Since beginning his teaching career in 2012, he has guided students to consistent VBODA “Superior” and “Excellent” ratings in both Concert and Marching Assessments at multiple schools, along with multiple VBODA Honor Band Awards and VMEA Blue Ribbon School Awards as well. A lifelong Valley resident, Joel resides in the Stephens City area. He enjoys motorcycling, golf, and watching various sports in his spare time."
Joel greatly enjoys the high energy of Jumptown's performances and he is excited to play many more in the future!

In 2018 Paul was inducted into the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association Hall of Fame. He is a guest conductor for regional bands and is a concert and jazz assessment adjudicator."
Paul is no stranger to many, and his influence as an educator and musician has empowered and instructed a vast number of students and colleagues during his career. Come see Paul at our next gig!
Next up in our lineup, the highly talented Keith Garrison!
"Keith Garrison, a self-taught musician, who began playing keyboards as a teenager, was born and raised in Loudoun County, Virginia. He started on an old upright piano, later learning to "chord" on a Magnus Chord Organ. Keith learned to play songs by listening to 45's and LP's. Among his early influences were Young Rascals, The Animals, Booker T & the MG's, Vanilla Fudge, Steppenwolf and other popular bands of the time. Keith then joined the Wild Kingdom Band with his brother, playing teen dance halls, parish halls, pool parties and high schools. Over the years, Keith has performed with a number of different Northern Virginia-based bands, including; The Tear (who played on WINC Radio in the late 1960's), Crisco Kids, Happy Medium, Double Take, Two Bucks and The Gary Smallwood Band."
Hard to miss his solos on the keys, keep up the great work Keith!
We are happy to introduce one of our newest members, the highly engaging and amazing Michael Gauvreau!
"Michael Gauvreau has been an active member of the Northern Virginia music scene since 1998, when he was hired by the regional tribute band, "Pride Enjoy", after moving to the area from Florida. Notable dates with the band include Nissan Pavilion Side Stage openings for Kansas and Yes, opening for Johnny Winter, and playing Friday Night Live in Herndon. Michael is also a member of "The Ruins", a NOVA alt-country outfit known for their 2010 self-titled album, produced and recorded by Marco Delmar. In 1981, Michael began his professional career in Southern California as a member of "The Willie Aames Band", in support of Willie Aames of the "Eight is Enough" and "Charles in Charge" television series. He has also served as a Production/Stage Manager for several large Florida music festivals, including the Sarasota Blues Festival and Venetian Sun Fiesta. Michael is also the drummer and vocalist for Loudoun County's own songwriting band, "Andy Hawk and the Trainwreck Endings", as songwriting is his passion. A multi-instrumentalist, he is currently working on an album of his growing catalog of songs about positive social commentary that celebrates the common ground we can find together, regardless of our differences."
Impossible to miss at the front of the stage, look for him at our next show!
