As an artist and potter, I see the world through different eyes; there is beauty around us, if only we take the time to slow down and notice it…..✨

First load (with the squirrel ornaments) is glazed and loaded into the kiln, ready to fire in the morning. The second load (in the crates) will get glazed tomorrow and fired on Saturday along with any refires from the first load. Hopefully I can fit the lion and a few other fun pieces into that second load. 🙂.

I’m playing with some new glazes in these firings, which isn’t always the smartest move when you are filling buisness orders. lol. But that is the bulk of what I do, so I have to try them out on someone! 😉.

Everything (almost) in tomorrow’s firing will be going to Smith County Drug Center in Carthage, TN…💫

And the Squirrel ornaments are getting a jump on Christmas and heading to Olney, IL. The second load will fire mugs for the Daily Grind Coffee shop in Nashville…and some fun stuff. ✨🏺.

It’s been a busy day in the studio, but I got a lot done! My big ball of red clay is still sitting on my wheel waiting to be thrown and is driving me crazy! But I gotta get the kiln going first!

I love that texture on the bottom of that logo mug! It was made with a little concrete garden mushroom my kids found in a creek. Anything can become a tool! You just have to look for the potential….!✨🏺💫

Handles and more mugs! Some of these will be another load for the Daily Grind, and some will be for sale here on my page in a week or so.
In between all the fun fancy stuff that I post about, I always have a constant stream of mugs in the drying bins in all stages of the game. I think I could put handles on blindfolded. Lol. (Maybe I should try that…..🤣✨💫)

I use an Emerson blender to make my clay slip super creamy! Makes wedging and throwing a breeze later on. ✨🏺💫

Artists are weird. I’ll be the first to admit that. We just see the world differently. We see things that other people don’t readily see. We thrive in messy studios, covered in whatever medium we are working with, and our brains are constantly thinking and dreaming about some new creation, even while working on a current project!
We live in a world of color, sound, shapes, and movement. Beauty entrances us, color mesmerizes us, sound fascinates us.
We sometimes see things that aren’t there. We visualize what could be. We have to constantly add to what’s already there to make it even better! We see beauty in the simple and the elegant alike, because we appreciate the uniqueness of both.
Creating drives us. The challenge of taking what is dreamed up in our heads and making it a tangible object for the world to enjoy thrills us to no end! And we enjoy the entire process. Our hearts are embedded into every fiber of our creations! Our spirit gives it life and a personality all of its own! These creations speak and reflect the one who made it. They reveal the love that was poured into it.

This is who I am…..I am an artist.

….and here’s a sneak peek at my next creation!!! It’s something I’ve been dreaming of making for a long time, and now I’m going to attempt it. With 25lbs of red Hawaiian clay! 💫🏺✨😜

(The keto pizza is pretty good too! ☺️. Yeah, artists eat on the run, because we can’t bear the thought of stopping when we are engrossed in a new idea!! This pizza will literally take me a few hours to consume because I’ll grab a bite here and there on my way to complete some clay task. Lol. Yeah, artists can be super hyper focused too.). 🤣

I’m getting ready to (attempt to) throw a whopping 25lbs of red clay!!!!! The most I’ve ever done is 12lbs. What possessed me to think I can handle 25 is beyond me, lol, but hey, I like to push myself! 🤣.

But first, we gotta sculpt a creepy little lion in one of the chunks for the fun of it. lol. As I was cutting those chunks off the block, my finger slipped and my first thought was, “hey, that looks like a lion mane….and my weird brain grabbed that idea and took off like a shot before I could rein it back in! 🤣🤣. Therefore, the creepy lion was created in an about 8.3 seconds of pure, unbridled ADHDism. 😜

Let’s see if we can turn that “clayman” (and the creepy lion) into something beautiful! We won’t know until we try…..don’t fear the failure….enjoy and learn from the process. ✨🏺💫

This bisque load will get glazed and fired the first of the week! Lots of orders in this load, so some of you will be hearing from me by the end of the week.

This will be firing number 183 from over the past 8ish years. I didn’t log my firings before that so it’s well over 200 by now.

But! According to my books, these mugs are 183! That’s a whole lot of pottery out there with my name on them!!! 😜✨🏺💫.
