So this happened yesterday after church. Wasn’t planning to get on the wheel, but it somehow just snagged me and yanked me over. A ball of clay magically appeared in front of me and began spinning. What was I supposed to do? Just stare at it? 🤷‍♀️.

We began the intricate clay dance and a pitcher began to rise from the wheel!
I wasn’t trying for this look, but it’s definitely has a mushroom vibe! 😉 I’ll be pulling an handle for it today.

Should I make mugs to match? I’ve got some other cute mushroom ideas in the works right now, so maybe my brain was just wired that way yesterday. 🤣✨

I scratched off another country on my map today! It’s fun watching where my pottery goes around the world!

Today’s destination marks 28 countries and 47 states! Wow!

I’d made this set of mugs for a beautiful young couple for their wedding just before they moved to their new home in Suriname! She sent me this pic of the mugs when they reached their final destination!

I love watching my pottery fly away to the far corners of the earth! It is most humbling and an huge honor to me that y’all have supported my little business for so long and continue to treasure my creations!

It’s time to start wedging up my recycled clay. The edges firm up faster than the center, so the clay that is still too soft just gets mixed back in. I got enough, though, to make a few mugs.
This clay is a mix of around six different clays, all the same shrinkage and cone level. It fires to a beautiful, creamy speckled finish! 💫🏺✨

Btw…isn’t the splatter on the wheel interesting? I love my clay! 😉

Sometimes I just stare at a piece, marveling at the depth of beauty within the colors, the textures, the design. Each single one is different. Every glaze flow is unique.

I hope I never lose the wonder of the clay. I hope I never get too busy that I fail to hear each piece tell its story.

Does that sound strange? Maybe to some! But to the artist, color and shape is more than just a piece of art. It is almost alive, teeming with personality, character, and attitude!

It’s what sets each piece apart and makes them one of a kind.

When at first you don’t succeed….don’t even think of giving up! Just let the clay lead you in a different direction and hang on for the ride! 😉.
My bat was a little loose, resulting in a slightly off centered bowl that began to be heavy on one side.

When I pulled the walls as high as I dared, and the wobble got too risky, I altered the bowl, squeezing in the sides.
My eye saw a bread basket…a beautiful curvy piece overflowing with soft, steamy, buttery rolls. A centerpiece on the Thanksgiving buffet!
I added a fancy rim and edge…and then made a second one just because I liked the first happy mistake so much! lol. 🤪.
I’ll be posting the journey of our new little piece! Let’s see how they turn out! 💫🏺✨

Glaze transformations still fascinate me! Look what a little (a lot of🤭) heat and fire can do! They go into the kiln ugly and weak and come out “tried and purified”, beautiful and strong! ✨🏺💫

This piece will be for sale soon. Gotta fix a little wobble. I guess it wanted to dance a little in the kiln!Gotta love her attitude! 😜
