New this Week: Merja Keskinen

One of the themes explored in Transformations: Dialogues in Art and Materials was the balance between structure and discovery. In Horizontal Colors I, Merja Keskinen arranges colored threads according to a precise system, yet allows unexpected optical effects to emerge. Up close, individual threads are visible; from afar, they blend into luminous new colors—a reminder that discovery often lies within the process itself.

Happy Birthday, Chris Drury!

Join us in wishing artist Chris Drury a very happy birthday. Drury creates work that is an integral part of the landscape, using a method or material that particularly suits idea and place.

Drury has worked extensively with small communities in Europe, Japan, and America. Drury has authored a recent book, Heart Soul Mind, the result of his career working outside and on paper for over 40 years.

We love seeing what he creates!

Happy birthday, we hope the year ahead is good to you.

arttextstyle: Art Assembled: New Work in May

This month’s featured works explored the expressive power of material — from linen, h**p, and reed to flax, copper, and handwoven cotton. Through weaving, sculpture, and layered fiber constructions, the artists transformed natural materials into works reflecting memory, landscape, uncertainty, and human connection.

These material-driven explorations continued in Transformations: dialogues in art and materials at browngrotta arts.

New this Week: Stéphanie Jacques

Dans le creux de ta main (In the Hollow of Your Hand) by Stéphanie Jacques weaves copper and flax into a sculpture shaped as much by space as by form. Openings, shadows, and transparency become part of the work itself—what Mary Butcher describes as voids “rich with meaning.”

Happy Birthday, Jeannet Leendertse!

Please join us in wishing artist Jeannet Leendertse a very happy birthday. Having grown up on the Dutch shore, Leendertse's fiber work can be recognized for its response to the rugged coast of Maine, where she now lives. We are honored to be able to work with Leendertse. You can see her new work in the catalog for the recent exhibition, Transformations: dialogues in art and materials.

We hope this next year of life is nothing short of spectacular. To see her work: https://browngrotta.com/artists/jeannet-leendertse.
