AUDITION NOTICE for The Bottom Line Workshop 2025
Workshop rehearsals at Showcase On Main in Elkton, MD
Tech rehearsals and Performances at Newark Charter School in Newark, DE
Seeking VIDEO auditions for a workshop production of The Bottom Line, a new musical by Dana Paul Robinson, directed by Lee Lewis with music-director David Zipse.
The workshop process will begin with a readthrough sometime in the Spring, followed by a light schedule (TBD) of rehearsals to develop the show, with final rehearsals culminating in two public performances on August 1-2, 2025.
Featuring music in a jazz standard / Broadway style, The Bottom Line is a romance story set against the tension arising from technological advances in the banking industry over several decades. The show begins and ends in 2009, centering on 20-something Bobby Jones, who faces a choice between helping his mother continue his late father’s legacy in their small, community-focused bank or pursuing a different career. At a reunion of aging, retired bankers, Bobby meets several of his parents’ colleagues who share stories of the old days when banking was a service, not just a business. We flash back to the early 1980s, now following Bobby’s father as a young man just starting his banking career (and meeting and falling in love with Bobby’s mother) at a time when rapid changes in technology, along with the greed of some unscrupulous business people, threaten to destroy the integrity of the institution in favor of “the bottom line.”
Seeking 10-14 non-union actor/singers (6-8M, 4-6F) to play various roles ranging in age from 20’s to 70’s.
See breakdown of characters below...
Please record a video performance of one song in the style of the show (think Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Jerry Herman). Demo recordings of songs from the show are available at the link below. Save your video in a common format (mp4, avi, mov, wmv, etc.) and email it directly (if under 20mb) or email a link to the file online (making sure the file is downloadable).
