11th Annual ZOMBIE WALK & PROM 2021

GET READY ZOMBIES!!!! We had all hoped all was well…. apparently, we were DEAD wrong. The undead of Fayetteville are coming back to celebrate the 11th Annual ZOMBIE WALK & PROM on Friday, October 22 from 6pm-10pm. This is a free undead family-friendly event. Come to downtown Fayetteville in all your ZOMBIE.
What’s a ZOMBIE Walk? A ZOMBIE Walk is an organized (as organized as zombies can be) public gathering of people dressed in ZOMBIE costumes (we hope these are only costumes). Traditionally, ZOMBIES gather to walk in processional format. However, in 2021 the procession has been cancelled and ZOMBIES are invited to rove the downtown streets, through public spaces – arms extended and all.

There’s a little undead in all of us, so bring out your best ZOMBIE and join the local undead in downtown Fayetteville. The infestation (gathering) starts at 6pm. The Prom (Costume Competition) starts at 6:45 on the District Vibe stage along Maxwell Street. The Feeding (LIVE MUSIC FROM THE GUY UNGER BAND) starting shortly after. Makeup artists will be on hand during the event to help bring out the undead for a monetary fee or arrive already in character using your own creativity. Additionally, one of the original founders of the undeadly gathering, Christina E. Cole, will return to Fayetteville for a book signing at Back-A-Round Records. "Abandoned North Carolina: Mouth of the Holler”, Christina’s most recent work, takes you on an introspective look at North Carolina's past and abandoned architecture with angsty mystery, fulfilling fear and unbridled truth. Meet Christina and learn more about her work here.

ZOMBIE Walk and Prom is organized by the Cool Spring Downtown District, Back-A-Round Records, Awesome Tattoos and sponsored by the City of Fayetteville, Healy Wholesale and T-Mobile.

Schedule (Subject to change):

- 6:00 PM: The ZOMBIE Awakening (event starts)

- 6:00 – 7:30 PM: Abandoned North Carolina: Mouth of the Holler Book signing by Christina E. Cole at Back-Around Records (1-Market Square)

- 6:00 PM: The ZOMBIE Feeding (LIVE MUSIC FROM THE GUY UNGER BAND BEGINS) on the District Vibe stage along Maxwell Street

- 6:45 PM: The ZOMBIE Prom (Costume Competition on the District Vibe Stage Maxwell Street)

- 7:00 – 10:00 PM: The ZOMBIE Feeding continues with THE GUY UNGER BANDS

During the event many of our downtown businesses will be open. Remember to shop, eat, and support the locals while you are downtown.

Costume Competition: Two categories: Ages 0 – 13 and 14-up. First, second and third prizes for our ZOMBIE Leads.
- Prizes:
o Third Place: Goody bag from a downtown business
o Second place: $50 downtown gift card
o First place: $100 downtown gift card

Making the big hike for breast cancer! Thank you to anyone that has and will donate!!

My friend Nicole suggested I start a gofundme for the Ireland cancer walk for things such as emergencies (since I am going alone) or in case something happens to credit cards etc while I am over there. I protested a little but she said since we met their goals that this was a good idea. I know I’m...

Lindsay White Renegar and Heather Robinson have gotten together and mixed words to update my story. They've done such a good job staying on top of it and me to keep it current! I do appreciate them so!

From the get go the word awareness has always bothered me when it comes to cancer. Awareness without action. I feel it's important for people to physically see what this disease and surgeries do to you. I feel like when you bring the words plastic surgery into it the dynamic changes into something posh and clean. Especially with today's use of plastics. I want to be the one to show you that is not what it is. I know a lot of people have weak stomachs and can be sensitive in their constitution, so instead, In this months story, we have provided a link to direct photos in my Instagram acct. This is giving you a choice to look and see what cancer and it's results can really look like. Not some cute surgery, all healed up and Christina gets to bounce back with a practically new me. No, moreso hard not to feel like a frakensteinish mistake in the end.

My two cents I would do surgery first if you will end up with reconstruct or major surgery. Therefore less chance of necrosis and more healing time. I know mine was a freak accident with the dumb nurse falling on me. But always better safe than sorry!

Thanks again everyone with your help through this and so much more you've given outside of it!

Do any of my old artists from the art collective or my gallery have an interest in relocating (or if you are in the Connecticut way) have an interest in having a incredible warehouse studio space? I'm looking at renting the rooms that are approximately 10x12 or a little less for $200-$300 a studio and common area with warehouse full sized display space. They have huge windows, amazing natural light and all kinds of amenities. I'd be interested in all forms of painting, sculpture, pottery, photography etc. your only requirement would be participating in shows once a month like any good artwalk or community type art culture and of course love beautiful Connecticut enough to be there and give it your all! I'll be happy to answer any questions about what we are planning on doing. If this interests you please contact me. I will post on both feral and wickeds page as well. Feel free to pass it to your friends!

General information

Reviews: In short the opening was freaking awesome! Donna said it was the weirdest stuff she'd ever seen and I LOVED IT! Death, doom, black, black, black, gothic, sexy, southern, folk, mojo, John the Conquer root voodoo kind of stuff. Accompanied by techno dance music with live DJ. Out of this world! And everybody loves the cigar box guitars and diddley bows! - Judson Oren Crow/Artist Just my opinon I have enjoyed having Christina and Sam next door to me they have both become my friends. I also think a tattoo shop or the like would be a good opportunity to bring some younger people to the street we need to broaden our clientele. This could be the beginning of that. Yes, I do think their shop has helped us. Michael Moore/ Michael Moore Antiques! With my long working history in the Fashion Industry, with such clients as Ralph Lauren, Halston and up till most recent LLKoolJ, I never really gave it much thought to work with a gallery named ‘Wicked’. A name is a name and as such would a rose be any different with another. I like the the owners and the people who work there, who are all fellow artists. There is such a complexity and depth into the discussions of art, that I have rarely found anywhere else. Such an interaction of views and opinions, that it challenges your senses, but the best part is that you don’t know you had that interaction until after, and that is what makes ‘Wicked’ a new beat for us, who follow a beat of a different drummer. Raffaele Paglia CBboards/Carolina Beach boards I am new to the Feral Art Collective and to the Wilmington art scene in general. I met Christina thru a friend in the midwest and was invited to participate in a street festival with the Collective. I was nervous and anxious because I didn’t know anyone and my work is very traditional and not cutting edge at all. But, Christina, Sam and everyone I came into contact with was very friendly and welcoming. These past few months have been filled with creativity and encouragement from the owners of Wicked and I am very grateful to have met Christina and Sam who have become great friends. My respect for Christina as a businesswoman as well has grown as I watcher her take on projects left and right as she nurtures her gallery and helps to build a vibrant art community in Wilmington. Her professionalism is always present, always patient, even when handholding a stressed artist that has lost their self confidence. I’m grateful that Christina took a chance on an unknown artist and welcomed me into the fold, but I am more grateful for her friendship. Christina and Sam are good people. Being a member of the Feral Art Collective and exhibiting at Wicked has opened up new avenues into my creativity and made my work fresh and fun again. ~ Sherie Griffith/Artist, Greensboro, NC
