The Arts department would like to recognize Laurel A as our September Arts Superstar! Laurel is a flute player in our 8th Grade Band and Jazz Band Mastery. She is also currently performing alongside the Ashley High School Marching Band as a member of the color guard. Laurel has taken the stage in both of Murray’s past two musicals - performing in the ensemble of Mean Girls Jr. and showing off her tap-dancing skills as a rat and one of the Three Blind Mice in Shrek Jr. Laurel’s talents extend beyond Murray, too! Outside of school, she participates in competitive rhythmic gymnastics. Some of her favorite things include the color pink, Olivia Rodrigo, and hanging out with friends. Congratulations, Laurel! You are a Murray Arts Superstar! 💫

BRING-A-FRIEND-TO-BAND: DAY TWO💜🎷

Over the past two days, nearly 80 sixth graders came through the band room to explore instruments, make their first sounds, hear some incredible musicians, and see what being part of BAND is all about!

44 SIXTH GRADERS ASKED TO JOIN BAND!
FORTY. FOUR. 🥳🥳

We are SO excited to welcome a whole bunch of new musicians into the 6th grade Band family!

A HUGE THANK YOU to our teachers for helping make these visits possible, our high school musicians for sharing their talents, our current band students for spreading the word, and every sixth grader who was brave enough to walk into the band room and try something new!

BRING-A-FRIEND-TO-BAND DAY: DAY ONE! 💜🎷
Holy smokes! More than 70 sixth graders stopped by the band room today to explore the world of BAND! Students got to hear our woodwind instruments in action, meet some awesome high school musicians, hold and explore the different instruments, and even try making their first sounds!

THIRTY FOUR sixth graders left asking to JOIN BAND! 🥳

There is something pretty special about watching a student pick up an instrument for the first time and realize, “Wait…I can do this!” 🎺💜

We have ONE MORE DAY of Bring-a-Friend-to-Band tomorrow, and we can’t wait to welcome another group of future musicians into the band room!

The future of Murray Band is looking pretty bright! 🎶💜
