Sign-ups for our children’s production of Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr. are happening this Monday and Tuesday, August 10 & 11! Join us either evening at 6 PM to meet Director Andy Weaver and learn about the show. We’re posting some FAQs below:

Q: What ages can participate?
A: Children ages 7 and up.

Q: When are sign-ups?
A: Monday, August 10, and Tuesday, August 11, from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. You only need to attend one meeting.

Q: Will children have to audition?
A: No—Everyone who signs up will be given a part!

Q: Where do we go to sign up?
A: Sign-up meetings are held in the Martin County Auditorium on the campus of Martin County High School. Please use the backstage entrance. Circle around the back of the gym and look for the stage door beside the roll-up truck bay. There will be a sign posted on the door.

Q: What are the performance dates?
A: Thursday, September 17 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, September 19 at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, September 20 at 3:00 pm. Please make sure your child is available to participate in all performance dates before signing up.

Q: What is the rehearsal schedule?
A: Rehearsals begin August 17 and are typically held on four weekday evenings each week at 6:00 pm. We schedule a five-week rehearsal period. A Sunday afternoon rehearsal will also be held the week leading up to the show.

Q: What are parents' responsibilities?
A: A parent or supervising adult must be in the auditorium with their child(ren) during rehearsals. One adult per child will sign up to help backstage during one of the three performances. Some base layer garments or minor costume pieces may need to be purchased for your child (ex.: black leggings and socks). Parents will help their younger children with costumes before and after dress rehearsals and performances. Parents are encouraged to volunteer with sets, props, and costumes!

GO GRAB YOUR TICKETS NOW from Eventbrite. You may also buy tickets at the Martin County Art Center at 124 Washington Street during regular gallery hours - Tuesday through Friday 12-4 p.m. Or at the door the day of the event. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for senior citizens and students.

Please support our friends the Martin County Arts Council!

We were honored to receive a Military and Veteran Healing Arts Grant from the North Carolina Arts Council for FY 2025/2026. Several veterans and veteran family members took a photography class under the direction of William Ahearn.

It's coming up to time to see what they have learned. Their work will be shown at the same time as our annual Photography Show. We can't wait to see what they have created using photography as a powerful healing art form to process trauma, reduce anxiety, and reconnect with their surroundings.
