The Gaslight Theater Players were honored to make a donation to the Dixon Washburn cabin restoration fundraiser with a brick commemorating their connection to the history of the community. With nearly 60 years of existance, and one of the few remaining all volunteer community theater groups in the United States, the GTP (originally called The Georgetown Players) take great pride in contributing to the history of their town and surrounding community. And with the 250th anniversary of the US upon us, let us not forget the hard work and determination of the individuals who struggled to bring back historical buildings in our midst and who donated time, money, and strength for the love of the task before them. We, the current Players, are forever in debt to the 40 Georgetown community members, the original Georgetown Players, who signed a Promissory Note for $100 each to rebuild the Gaslight Theater from the ruins it had become in the late sixties. Because of the Players, the Gaslight Theater stands today as a monument to the vaudeville acts/silent pictures, plays of the past and yes, a live horse was onstage one time way back when. As a group, the GTP are proud to be able to perform plays, skits and share the the imagination and creativity of theatrical arts with all those who hold an interest and wish to learn.
