Yes, I probably do too much. But when you truly love what you do, even a ridiculous week can feel like a treat. 😂
Tuesday was nine hours at an absolutely amazing corporate event, followed by five hours of DJ lessons. Wednesday was a travel day to Cancun, with enough layover time to rethink all my decisions. Should’ve driven to KC and taken the direct flight. Lesson learned. Thursday? Beach bumming and living my best life. Friday, I got to provide the soundtrack and host a beautiful wedding in paradise. Pretty dang incredible.
Saturday, I flew home and went straight from the airport to kick it with J Skratch for a private Halloween party. Got home, squeezed in about four hours of sleep, then headed to the Prairie Fire Marathon with the energy set to 11. We did the damn thing! Afterward came lunch and some Backyard Boogie at Brickyard before I finally told myself, “Sir. Go to bed.” 😂
I’m sharing this because being self-employed takes work ethic. Showing up prepared, bringing the energy, and giving people your best, even when the week gets wild. People tell me all the time to “take it easy,” and yes, I need to make room for rest. But I also hope you understand how much I enjoy this. Teaching someone a new skill, celebrating a marriage, hyping up participants, rocking a party with a friend… I get to be part of all of that. That’s a pretty amazing life.
This week brings a charity event, a corporate parking lot party, training to DJ at the polls (here is your reminder to be registered to vote), a corporate conference, a private party, an awards banquet, and some Tallgrass Film Festival fun.
Behind every packed week are people who trust me to be part of something that matters to them. I never take that lightly. Thankful for every opportunity, every invitation, and every person who lets me do what I love.
Truly blessed. Now, somebody make sure I’ve got a nap on the calendar. 😂
