Meet Gallery12’s new wall-leasing artist Jeffrey Gowen.

We're excited to introduce Jeffrey and his distinctive animal paintings to Gallery12.

Jeffrey shares: "I am a self taught artist who began painting in 2018. I love all animals and painting them gives me a chance to challenge myself. When I paint these beings I want to showcase them in a way that people don't tend to see."

Charles Gaynor describes his featured show "Imaginative Imagery"

The title of my show is illustrative of the human condition. Given that we do not experience the world directly, we make sense of it through our senses that our filtered through the fantastic processing of our brain. We continually run simulations and make predictions, some of which prove to be faulty-make adjustments and continue to predict again. Imagination is a part and parcel to this process, to our creativity, our humanity. Artistic expression represents an freeing of our ability to utilize imagination to fashion a selected image of the world, which we can hold up to ourselves and others and contemplate what it might mean. This in turn might cause a cascade of further reactions, that can deepen our depth of comprehension in a satisfying manner. Individuals viewing my work may, of course, have different interpretations of pieces. My introduction of ambiguity may play a factor. I don't have a right to call these reactions wrong. I do have the right to call these correct for the viewer. The sadness is that authoritarian societies purposefully kill imagination for the sake of conformity. Imagination is the canary in the coal mine in this case.
Imagination is the inalienable right of the viewer. You can focus and then let you mind fashion thoughts and images, through the miracle of your humanity, taking you where you want to go.
