Hey, everybody! Here's my next finished project! Made for a special grandma in my life, I wasn't given many specifics on how she wanted it made. Just a plaque with her special grandma name because all the traditional grandma names are boring. I was given a timeline and when I tried to take it to her to show the progress and ask for opinions, she told me I have full creative rights and can do whatever I wanted and refused to look at it until the predesignated timeline was up. So, I took it home and added some pokey spots, oxidation coloration, and a small border! At first, when I called it done, I was unsure. But the more I come out to the garage and see it standing there, the more I like it! For the finishing touch, I signed the shop name on the back of the plaque with a grinder. I really like this piece and can't wait to send it home.

Hey, everybody! Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. Life has been busy, but I've still tried to make time to be in the shop creating. I'm proud to announce my first big project (just under 10hrs of shop time) and my first collaboration with another creator! This is a geodesic dome made from nitrous canisters. The idea was brought to me over a year ago, before I even bought a welder, and I'm glad to have been able to work with a friend whose art I deeply admire and bring his shiny metal dreams to life.

We love gifting around here, so these are going to be gifts! Not a burn, but burn-adjacent event, these doubloons will be involved in some kind of game at this year's AORTA: Shipwrecked. A pirate and mermaid themed event. I was able to get 20 of these done before my first bottle of gas ran out in the middle of number 21. The goal is to have 90 of these to gift at the event in October.

Story time! My amazing partner wanted to get me a practice kit from my Amazon list. So she went through and found one she liked and ordered it for me. Of course she ordered the kit that I put in my cart because I wanted to make it as a gift for her. I see it as a double win! I got the welding practice she wanted to give me AND I got to give her the gift I wanted!

SLoBurn Creations. I didn't come up with the name, but it means so much to me. In 2024 I was invited to attend a Burning Man sanctioned regional burn and it changed my life. I wanted to start making metal art for this community that I had come to love so much and that had radically included me, so I went back to school and finished my welding degree. Now I'm in my garage every morning before the house wakes up doing what I love. Creating. Making art for people to love and enjoy. It's my goal one day to have an installation on playa, and believe me, friends, it will happen. Just gotta get there one day at a time.
