Expand your horizons - be a host family Have you ever considered hosting an international high school student for the school year? I am looking for families in the OH, MD, PA, WV areas.

Every year, foreign high school students come to the United States to experience life here, practice their English, learn about the US, and develop long-lasting friendships. During their time here the students live with and are treated as members of our families. The US government encourages these exchange programs in order to promote international relationships. The students return to their home

countries after either 1 or 2 school semesters. I work with NW Peace Services which is responsible for finding stable, loving homes for some of these students. I live in the Wheeling WV area and am looking for families within approximately an hour radius of Wheeling. My 9 year old daughter and I have been hosting for the past three years. We absolutely love it. We have developed strong relationships with our students and hope to some day be able to visit them in their native countries some day. We have enjoyed home cooked Thai and Turkish food. My daughter has performed Nepalese and Thai dances in her school's variety shows that were choreographed by host sisters. We have enjoyed presentations from our host kids about their home countries. I have learned a lot about the area I live in, as well as larger nearby cities, while searching for activities and events that we can attend as a family. The host family is responsible for supplying the students with a bedroom (they can share with a sibling of the same sex), food while they are at home, and any other living expenses such as for electricity, water, etc. I treat them as a member of the family. As such they are expected to help with chores around the home and follow any home rules. Students buy their own school supplies, clothes, entertainment, they pay for their meals out, and any traveling expenses. They have their own health insurance and are not permitted to drive during their time here. There are students from Europe, Asia and South America waiting for host families for this coming school year. If you are interested please contact me.

Have you ever considered hosting an international exchange student? Here at NW Services we have several great students still hoping for a volunteer host family for the 2019-2020 school year. We are looking for homes at John Marshall high school, Buckeye local high school, Paden City high school, Magnolia high school, and Brooke high school.

How about a 15 yr old Spanish boy from the Baleartic island who likes tennis, cooking, and photography. He is the middle child and is considered outgoing with a positive outlook. He regularly does chores at home. He will accept a family pets and one that smokes outside.

We have a 15 yr old Thai female looking for a host family. She has a 7 yr old sister and a pet dog and cow. She and her family enjoy cooking, gardening, and helping out in the local temple. She is a little nervous about talking with Americans because she is not use to our accents. She grew up in the country, but the family moved to the city when it was time for her to go to school.
She is worried about traveling alone from Thailand to the US. Remember she is 15!

Or maybe you would like to learn more about Azerbaijan. Do you know where it is located? We have a 17 year old young lady. She likes reading, swimming, and going skiing with friends. Her parents describe her as very positive and a leader among her friends. She will accept a single mom with no kids as well as a family with pets.

How about Nut from Thailand. He is 17 years old. He accepts single parents with no kids, same s*x parents, parents who smoke outside, families with pets. He enjoys drawing, camping, watching Japanese animation, action movies and plays competitive badminton. He loves cats.

We at NW Services have a 16 yr old female from China who is really hoping to have a host family this year. She likes to dance and read classical Chinese literature. She hopes to eventually study law in the US. She says she will be happy to do chores and cook you some tasty Chinese food, like dumplings.

She would welcome a family of any make-up: same s*x couples, single adults with no kids at home, and families that smoke.

I have linked a travel guide video to Thailand. One of the great things about hosting is you have someone to visit so you don't have to go to all of the tourist locations!

These are the travel tips you need to know about 'the land of 1,000 smiles', Thailand. Start exploring from sand between your toes whilst flanked by lush mountains, to the twenty-four-hour vibrant frenzy of its capital.
