PAUSE.

I’ve been thinking a lot about why flowers and art matter—especially right now.

The day-to-day can drag us down. There is always something demanding our attention, something to worry about, something that feels heavy.

And then there are flowers. And art. And really, I think they are one and the same.

They are the pause.

The moment we stop and notice something beautiful. The moment we refocus on the magic that is still happening all around us.

That might sound a little woo-woo, but I believe it. The world can be terrible and amazing at the exact same time. In fact, it always is. We control what we focus on.

This Purdue student came to the market simply to enjoy that pause—and to take a little of that magic back to her own space.

And I keep thinking about that.

Because it makes all the growing, making, muddy hands, long days, and creating at Mud Puppy feel really important.

I’m not just growing flowers or making art. I’m creating little opportunities to pause.

is tomorrow! I will have lots of new work featuring fall colors and designs. I’m incorporating celosia flower designs into my fall work. Flower farmers have to be careful about declaring a favorite flower because there are so many an amazing choices, but my ♡ belongs to celosia. The colors are insane, it has so much texture, and it’s such an oddball that I just adore it. Bloomington Handmade Market

So much of my work comes directly from what I see growing and living around me—flowers, birds, moths, and all the small details of the natural world.

I want my pottery to bring a little of that connection into your home: a reason to stop for a moment, look closely, and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.

I’ll be bringing these new pieces—and lots more—to the Bloomington Handmade Market at The Granfalloon this Saturday. Come find a little piece of nature to take home. Bloomington Handmade Market
