Ravens Keep Forge

Ravens Keep Forge Primitive Blacksmith and Author of the book 'Metal Never Lies'. Just home made charcoal. I make small items such as amulets, pendants, key chains etc.

My goal is to take scrap/unwanted metal and re purpose it into something functional and pleasing to the eye. I do this by salvaging for the steel/metal/copper and then reforming it in the very primitive forge, no coal is used. Yes, this does take longer, but I think the energy input into reusing our valuable resources is more than worth it. I also craft unique one of a kind housewares item like ho

oks, holders, scoops, dishes, bowls, etc. as well as larger items like cooking tripods, portable grills, bird feeders and more. If you have something particular in mind, I would enjoy working with you to help create that one of a kind special item. Several times a year I offer weekend classes in Primitive Blacksmithing. Raven’s Keep Forge is located in Stokes County North Carolina. Veteran owned and operated.

Back in the days of yore, the Dagda possessed a miraculous, bottomless cauldron from which 'no company ever went away unsatisfied', the Coire Anseasc. It didn't just satisfy hunger; it bound the tribe together.

I hammered that exact intent into this high-carbon steel pan. I didn't forge it for delicate plating or formal etiquette. It’s built for raw fire, heavy food, and the ritual of the shared table.

The work of the anvil is complete. The awakening of the pan’s magick will begin with you.

Why High-Carbon Steel?
High-carbon steel builds a memory. Every time you season it, every meal you cook, the metal darkens, matures, and carries the flavor of past feasts into the next. It mirrors the endless abundance of the mythical Coire Anseasc—the cauldron that never ran empty. This line is forged for those who view cooking as a ritual of hospitality, built to endure the fire and improve with every single generation it witnesses.

The work of Her Smithy is done. The Great Queen, I believe is very pleased. Now, we awaken The Dagda Pan. The first coat of seasoning seals the steel, transforming a tool of raw element into a vessel of hospitality. The feast is coming. Stay tuned!
I do believe this is the most beautiful thing that I have ever co-created.

If you are going to make a pan called 'The Dagda', a good spatula should be available as well. Don't you think?

This almost has the 'Blade' feel to it. IYKYK

The calm before the forge!

Right now, it’s just cold metal and an ancient story. But next week, the forge fires up. I'm transforming 12 guage 11" high-carbon steel into "The Dagda"—heavy-duty, high-performance pans rooted in Irish myth and built for modern fire.

What’s the first meal you’d cook on a pan born from fire and folklore?

METAL NEVER LIES. BUT ARE YOU READY TO LISTEN?

When I wrote Metal Never Lies: An Introduction to Metal Magic, it wasn't just to talk about history. It was to anchor a truth: that physical metals we hold in our hands are living mirrors and allies.

For years now, I’ve kept a bit of a project notebook I call 'The Alchemy of Metal Magick and Ritual Metals'. Inside, I’ve tracked how the metals of my craft dictate our reality, mapping to the compass directions, ancient history, and Irish cosmology of Land, Sea & Sky.

But the deepest secret of the forge is simpler: WE FIND THESE METALS WITHIN US! The very properties we invoke externally already reside in our own blood and physical makeup.

This November, I am opening Her smithy to an exclusive, intimate circle of just 9 practitioners for a 5-month online masterclass. We aren't just going to study—we are going to build relationships with the spirits of these metals.

Because this cohort is strictly limited to 9 seats, I am personally hosting brief, 15-minute Zoom chats with interested seekers before opening registration.

A vessel from which no one went away unsatisfied.

In Celtic lore, the Dagda’s cauldron was a source of endless abundance. It didn't just feed the body; it sustained the spirit. Next week, I begin forging my interpretation of that ancient legend. High-carbon steel, shaped by fire, built to ensure your table is always a place of abundance. The Dagda pan is coming to life!

Drop a 🍳 in the comments if you're ready for a pan built to last lifetimes.

⚒️The roster for the 5-month Online Metal Magick Course, is officially half full!

This course isn't a collection of surface-level myths or overused clichés. It’s a gritty, no-nonsense deep dive into some actual history, lore, metallurgical properties, and traditional symbolism of iron, copper, brass, and bronze.

Over the next few weeks, I’m pulling directly from my forge notebooks to share the raw reality of these materials—and bust a few modern myths along the way.

We start November 10th. If you've been waiting to claim your spot, here's your sign.😎

A vessel of peace must first survive the war of the forge. Only from a smithy dedicated to the Irish Goddess, The Morrigan, can a pan worthy of being called 'The Dagda' emerge. Right now, it exists only in parts.

In Her smithy, I do not build for the casual kitchen. I build for the legacy of the hearth.

Stay tuned for the New Moon....
